I thought Sam was okay for the boy and his car angle of the first film. Kind of worked as a kid just wanting a car and the girl instead of getting caught up in something huge.

The problem is they stayed with Sam but Sam wasn't very interesting after the first film. I was pretty much done with Sam after the first film so I didn't need Sam the college years. Then as bad as the college years were the whole whiny can't find a job I have to say home with my super hot girlfriend with money thing just made me hate the guy. I mean come on if your girlfriend was hot, crazy over you, had enough cash for both of you, my god why be upset that you couldn't find some soul crushing dead end job?

Which gives me some hope for part 4 because it seems like we've traded in Sam for a more interesting main character.

That was also my problem as well - started out as a semi-likable teenager with potential to grow as a character, but that didn't happen.

As well, he fell into the typical action-movie trap of having one of those girls that really likes him even though there's very little reason to (either that, or Carly has some self-esteem issues of her own).

Strangely enough, it was Epps who grew to like over the course of the sequels. I think it had to do with him defending their teaming up with the Transformers in ROTF, when he pretty much praises the work Optimus and the Autobots have done.

As well, Epps intentions to go to Chicago still to me was a better reason than Sam's, who at the time in the film seems to have forgotten just then that the Autobots were (presumed to be) just blown up.

    "Why are you helping me?"

"...because that @$$hole killed my friends, too."

103 replies to an obvious troll thread that was started by an account with 0 posts prior to this one, and 0 posts after.

This could seriously be a social study.

I love the designs the movies are not perfect though. I find them enjoyable though.

Epps managed to stay a likeable character so having his character around was one of the positive things about the film series.
