I...I just don't know to respond. You can't actually believe all this can you. I mean, good lord, critics aren't some monolithic-thinking entity uniformly plotting against Michael Bay's films making up excuses.

And what's up with all the Godzilla comparisons? Cause they both have "dinosaurs" in them?

If it cracks 25% I'd be amazed.

Liking a Michael Bay film will get your movie critic license revoked.

    Between 30% and 40%.

I don't think critics are allowed to approve of Michael Bay movies based off of action figures. They have an image to maintain. The image being that of pretentious snobs, with a false-sense of higher intelligence.

98% of the audience wants to see it. Only # that matters.

There is so much bias against bay that half of the reviewers will give a negative score just on principle. Age of extinction could be Oscar worthy and they would still give it bad scores. I can tell you right now the negative reviews will say " too long and too loud"

Depends on how much it has evolved from the past films. If there is less crude humour and the humans are actually likable (Cade seems to be so far) then late 30s, maybe 40-42%. I mean I enjoy them for what they are, but I can see why critics hate these films, and it's not due to some bias they have against Bay.

No, "Common Sense" is just not mentioning the critics. People ITT go to the level of insulting their very profession just because they didn't like some (admittedly really fucking stupid) movies. Sounds like butthurt to me.

Don't get me wrong, some critics are fucking assholes-but those are the amateur neckbeards on their blogs who didn't even see the movie. But the ones who get paid to see movies (usually for FREE) and write their opinion of them? Yeah. They're making money doing something they like doing while we sit here and talk about how dumb they are.

Sorry guys-there's a clear winner and some sore losers here. We're on the bad side.

^ [sarcasm] Yup, because clearly there are no politics within Hollywood or the American movie industry, and clearly no ulterior elements (such as keeping up with union dues or paying off critics) that affect the critical response of various sources whatsoever. [/sarcasm]

And don't even get me started on how most action movies, in general, are critically unpopular.

Look, the evidence is there. Look at most action films, especially ones reviewed by Rotten Tomatoes. Other than a few odd ones out (Godzilla, XMen DOFP, for example), what action movie gets more than 30 or 40 percent? Yet, alot of people love those movies and consider them fantastic. There's always some sort of bias at play when it comes to movie critics, is all I'm saying.

It's directed by Michael Bay. No way it's going over 40.

I noticed this get said earlier, and I just wanted to add that, for the record, Rotten Tomatoes doesn't really review movies. They collect and consolidate various scores and reviews from critics around the web and use them to generate a percentage.

    i agree with that.

also.. i've enjoyed all of the movies thus far.. not all of them were great.. but they were definitely great fun.

what bothers me about critics, besides their bias, is that they seem to go to a movie expecting to see something that the movie isn't supposed to be.

transformers movies aren't supposed to be thought provoking psychological thrillers.. or deep emotional character driven stories.. they're just not. yet, they're judged harshly for not being that.

i'm going to see this movie knowing that it's supposed to a fun blockbuster movie with big transforming robots that i've loved since i was a kid.

the critics haven't seemed to affect the box office numbers thus far, so i don't think they'll hurt this movie this time either. plus, it looks like the asian market will go nuts for this movie, so.. i have a feeling this will be yet another movie that gets poor critiques but makes a ton of money. and i'm fine with that. it keeps this brand alive.

    also..

i HATE it when critics belittle the people that actually enjoy these movies. that's just unnecessary.

I just don't see part 4 being about to beat the first film's 57%. It's the same production team and set within the confines of what's established in the film universe so I don't see it being able to really break out and being able to produce something great with the 4th outing. It's kind of like with Jurassic Park after the wow factor in the first film it's all just kind of down hill from there.

The change in the human cast might nudge the score a little higher so my best guess at this point is around 40%. But it can be hard to judge a film by it's trailers so I'll not be shocked if my prediction is off, I mean heck I thought Neighbors would be horrible and I was wrong on that one.
