They have a smaller profit margin on these limited runs. I know a guy who didn't want to deal with carrying AE Grimlock because it cost them close to $175 to get it. After shipping it twice they would only make $40 bucks off it. Plus, the average American fan doesn't like spending $250 so they sit.

Looks like the new going rate for MP-08x is $340

That's less than half what they were going for before the re-issue announcement a week ago.

why would you pay $340 on ebay when you could get one at BBTS or TFsource for $260?

That seller had some great stuff listed. That sucks considering how much he could have gotten just a few weeks ago, but full props for starting it at $.99 true auction style.

Maybe fear of loose legs on the reissue?

Loose legs. The paint could be off.. Who knows. It's a gamble.

I assume some people still want the original run and are willing to pay a premium.. or they don't know about the re-issue.
I know the original box says 25th anni, so I'm assuming they will take that off the re-issue. That will be one way to distinguish it in the far future.

Same on the OG Grimlock - some sellers advertise as the original run when the box clearly says 30 on it.

If this new run is anything like the TRU Grimlock I picked up today, there will definitely be a difference in quality between the reissue and the original. It will probably still look awesome but I doubt it will feel as sturdy.

Well, the Has Asia Takara colors Optimus with the stand that came out last year was actually tighter than the Original Takara that I had.

Also, the Starscream re-issue was tight by all reports.

Going on the fact that it's a limited run, the more I think about it the less likely it will be as loose. But we shall see.

My reissue starscream was tight too. Except the Cape hinge. That is a little floppy. But will hold an angle if not jarred.

It seems asian retailers aren't carrying this. What gives? I only found one retailer in Singapore and they are selling for over 300. Seems strange that American based BBTS is cheaper than local places. Any news or new offers? Is this Japan or Asia? Thanks.

I've been saying since Day 1 that this is Asia and not Japan. The original Japanese release was an exclusive, so this is more of Hasbro Asia trying to cash in on expensive Masterpiece re-releases. :)

Is Toys R Us in your country? Why not contact them? This is a Toys R Us Exclusive item.

Grimlock just popped up in Japan, so he'll most likely start showing up elsewhere too.

Yup. At this point I'd be stunned if it turned out it was a Japanese (re-)release, given all evidence indicates otherwise.

If its Hasbro Asia that's fine with me but where is the support? Anyone know if Korea is in that demographic. We got sunstorm and movie bumblebee here but those things shelf warmed until they were around 40 bucks a piece. Old transformers just arent popular here unfortunately. I really hope RK reconsiders stocking this piece. Id love to pick It up and I dont know where else to pick it up from.

I believe so, but sometimes the releases are China Only. As we've seen that with the MP-11 re-release (where the colors were tweaked a bit). Same goes for the United Conehead 3 pack.

So provide it's not China Only, I would expect it to show up in Korea. As Korea does get TakaraTomy product directly.

Whether Hasbro Asia is trying to cash in or not, it's good Grimlock is being rereleased all around the world

Just PO this guy from BBTS. Crossing my fingers that the joints are better than the recent TRU release.
