I know that I am probably in the minority here, but my order of enjoyment goes ROTF, TF07, DOTM.

I try to the see the films as purely summer blockbusters - which means I can get past the plot holes. ROTF in my opinion had the best action, the best CGI, and the best story setup with the must potential.

Don't get me wrong, I loved the films. I in no way hated DOTM, it just wasn't my favorite.

I think you make this shit up just so you can make these threads up.

Fun action film? Yes. One of the greatest action film ever? So very far from it, not even top 50.

    BTW DOTM>TF07>ROTF

for me DoTM was the best one yet, better plot, less sex jokes, no pot brownies, no Devastballs, no big red rods on any bots, no corny jokes, no Megan Fox, no fart jokes.

I just wish Megatron lived, and Ironhide wasn't teamkilled. oh, and no Obama.

What really hurt the movie was Megan Fox's absence. There wasn't an audience investment with the Carly character and we didn't get to know her that well. I think the movie would have had better impact if Megan was in the movie and had audience really care that she was in peril.

I do admit, I find myself...curious about how people can like ROTF more than DOTM. Don't get me wrong. I like ROTF. But to me, DOTM is the best out of all three of the movies. Least amount of dumb humor, decent villain, good fights...

I liked it, at least. So I do have to tilt my head a bit. Its their opinion to have, and they have that freedom, and good for them, but I am a bit curious about it.

That's a repeating problem with the transformers movie. The filmmakers don't invest in character development with the bots, like they do with the mutants. If I am not mistaken, that's how the G1 cartoon approach them (some of the stories were written by Marvel comic writers).

TF1 - Almost painful to sit through; cheesy dialogue, crass teen comedy humor, jarring plot holes... The only redeeming elements are John Turturro's hilarious performance, Optimus Prime's noble character, and the (now outdated) special effects.

ROTF - Even with its ridiculous plot, it could have been fun, mindless popcorn movie if it wasn't marred by so much vulgarity and obnoxious "comic relief" sidekicks. Even John Turturro is annoying, and Optimus becomes a homicidal maniac.

DOTM - Sam's life and the robot story line feel like two completely different movies, Shia LeBouf is still annoying, Carly's introduction is just about as degrading as a Victoria's Secret commercial, the humor is just as stupid as the first three... The only redeeming elements are Sentinel Prime's character and the action scenes, especially the Battle of Chicago. ...Until Optimus downright murders the bad guys.

I liked all 3 of the movies DOTM was certainly my favorite but I it goes for me DOTM, ROTF, and then TF'07, I have high hopes for AoE. I enjoyed DOTM because it did have quite a plot twist and Sentinel prime was a great villain. Certainly better than Megatron was (No offense to Megatron but his character lacked in the Bay movies). DOTM also has some of the best action however as other people had said, it didn't have enough Transformers. It is called Transformers for a reason, the humans are suppose to be secondary characters, not control the movies. Overall though I loved all the movies. Despite the quirky humor and all the problems, I enjoyed them all.

Of the 3 films, DOTM is easily the best.

This is hardly a matter of characterisation. Many of the characters were named in DOTM alone so if your wife can't name some of the TFs then it may be that she simply has a greater interest in X-Men than Transformers.

Actually, most of the Transformers movies, you don't hear alot of names thrown around much of the time, or it's usually in a wall-of-sound. Remember in ROTF, when some said it sounded like Lennox said "Arcee Twins," with many thinking he didn't know how to count?

Also in DOTM, we never really hear all the names of the Wreckers.

I didn't like it because of how horrible Sam was in this.

What a selfish entitled bastard....why does he always get the girl in the end.

I liked the concept of the movie....like Sentinel Prime being a traitor and having Decepticon allied humans, and that conspiracy but that's like it.

Plus Ironhide died a shit death, he deserved better.

His death reminded me of Nostalgia Critic's response to one of the aliens in Independence Day being taken down by a parachute: "A SHEET! ALL OF MY ADVANCED ALIEN TECHNOLOGY AND I'M TAKEN DOWN BY A SHEEEEEEET!"

    Just my :2c:

I think DOTM is a reasonable alien invasion / giant robot movie.

I was disappointed that the fact the giant robots were transformers didn't really figure much. Aside from laserbeak and soundwave disguise wasn't much of a plot element. Much use was made of the 'con alien ships and driller than any of the characters' earth modes (though 'bee gets a couple of cute transformation in the final battle and we finally get Prime's trailer). I'm really hoping the dinobots do actually transform in AOE.

The robots do get more screen time, characterisation, motivation, arcs etc in DOTM than the preceding movies. For example the Sentinel/Optimus relationship is neat though unfortunately Optimus remains a murderous thug rather than the noble leader you'd want him to be.

Might I just say that DOTM did have G1 references, and other stuff, but the movie wasn't as "colorful" as 1 and 2. 1 was filled with color with a good plot and buildup. 2 had the most action and was practically a party to see. 3, however, left you sad and furious at the most impossible of points. Oh, and, they killed iron hide. You only do that if you REALLY are desperate. In conclusion, if you thought it was good, don't let me get in your way. But the movie was not the transformers movie we all wanted. End of post

I couldn't disagree more if I didn't spend alot of spare time on tfw2005 or looking at transformer toys there's no way I would know the names..hell even the freaking movie itself and the writers/directors don't know the damn names. if you youtube dotm behind the scenes ehren kruger says he was gonna be mirage then they made him enzo, he calls and refeers to him as "enzo" throughout the behind the scenes...in the movie he is called dino...in the film que is called que but in the credits and the rare toy its que/wheeljack..even the credits on the movie doesn't know who the hell he is.

EVERY single individual I know who is a part of the general movie going audience that I have encountered cannot name more than 10-15% of the robot cast and in a movie titled TRANSFORMERS that's a problem IMO.

Hell they have a better chance naming sam carly epps lennox ron and judy.

Now about the thread you started I am not disagreeing with you at all you are right there are many things good about the film and I am not a hater I have watched it more than 15times and I have issues with it. I own all 3 movies and watch them alot. I am jealous that you like it as much as you do, good for you and I am serious. But you should see it from other points of view. I showed you an example of why people wouldn't like it, Thats all. But don't worry I am not a hater hell Ive given Bayformers alot of my money over the years so I can't bitch I am part of the "problem" :)

I actually liked ROTF more than DOTM.
