So I was wondering if tf4 should end with a cliffhanger because I remember reading a while back that some people thought that the scene with optimus getting shot by Lockdown is one of the final scenes in the movie and the last shot of the movie is optimus being captured by Lockdown I reckon that would be an awesome cliffhanger.

 

I'm not to big on cliffhangers, still, might be cool, unfortunately this scene has been heavily advertised and was shown in a 15 min preview so it probably isn't the cliffhanger your looking for, i'd say TF5 would be a perfect time for a cliffhanger, setting up for the (probable) final film.

 

If that was the end scene then I'd honestly be more annoyed - I don't honestly enjoy cliff-hangers such as that where it feels the entire movie is building up to an action scene that doesn't happen (Or isn't complete) till the next film (Such as Deathly Hallows part 1, The Hobbit the Desolation of Smaug, The Amazing Spider-man 2)

I don't mind a cliff-hanger but I'd prefer if it was more along the lines of a surprise reveal or post-credit scene where it showed a hint at the villain for the next film. A teaser of the Quintessons for example building Nemesis Prime to send him to Earth for TF5?

I suppose if the Decepticons won that could be a cliff-hanger of its own... Something like the Autobots retreating with a destroyed city in the background - then cut to black and have the Autobots on the run in the next film. However it would need to be done right and a lot would ride on the idea that the studio would be alright showing the Autobots be defeated.

 

Yes, thank god yes, I was thinking about starting a thread on this, what if ( spoilers ) when prime has his farewell speech or whatever, Magnus or hot rod show up or are introduced or anything....... just to calm the fanboys and leave something for everyone to look forward to. I think it's better than at the beginning of the movie we just see " oh btw these new dudes showed up"

Only do a cliffhanger if they film 4 &5 back to back. As current turnaround is far too long per film to even think about it yet........

 

An end credit scene would be nice. Something hinting towards the person who hired Lockdown.

 

I think the first film ended with a cliffhanger, when Starscream flew into space.

In this case, if the rumored clip about Optimus leaving Earth to draw away bounty hunters is confirmed to be AOE's last scene, then we have our cliffhanger. TF5 will inevitably feature Optimus coming back to Earth.

I doubt I'd be happy about a cliffhanger ending with reveals of new villains and all that. Bay doesn't need to copy Marvel with stuff like that, all they need is to have a mix of a closed and open ending like the first film: the fight is over for now, but the war's not over.

 

Traditional trilogies have a formula:
1st movie - Introduce heroes, build them up, and end with victory (pretty much stand alone movie)
2nd movie - Put heroes in dire situation, introduce new villains, build up villains for end of movie (aka cliff hanger)
3rd movie - epic battle of heroes and villains, half the cast dies, heroes prevail (usually with a sacrifice)

With that said, I think TF4 will be a stand alone with no cliffhanger. OP may leave, but there will be no immediate threat to the heroes. I would like to see an after credit scene hinting at the villain for TF5 though.

I'd like a cliffhanger, but if that specifically is the last scene, I will scream, "No!!!" in the theater. I was mad that they showed the final scene in the Amazing Spider-Man 2 trailers. I don't want them to do that with TF4 too.

This sounds a bit much to hope for this whole movie is about the Autobots being hunted and killed so to want another type movie like that is ridiculous this movie anyway is sounding extremely dark on Bay's part, There may be cool parts with Optimus riding Grimlock but there are a lot of death scenes that are violent for smaller children who have favorite characters such as Ratchet. I think Bay should have considered this when making the movie; as well as Hasbro.

 

It would be cool if it ended with a Cliffjumper...

i think fans of ratchet are kinda used to brutal deaths or effed up things being the norm with him. the animated movie the fusing with megatron. ratchet gets it rough....

i dont think a cliffhanger is needed but i'm all for a teaser. an enemy reveal autobot reinforcements that kinda thing. as long as we dont get an obnoxious to be continued...

maybe tf4 will end with a Unicron ship eating up all of the dinobots.
