WHAT?!? As if I didn't hate both Football and the treatment Transformers get here in Mexico(shitty distribution and what) and now this?!? This is an insult, Football really is the worst distractor of this country ¬¬

The reason its August for Japan is the same reason Godzilla releases there in late July. Japan has much longer school years than most other countries and so major movies like these are held till school is out and many more people can then go to see the movies. It's the big reason why Disney's frozen broke records in Japan. Holding movies like Godzilla till late July for Japan will no doubt jump Godzilla into record numbers.

Just to be clear: Soccer is an English word, derived from Association Football, which was used in English schools to differentiate from Rugby Football, referred to as 'rugger'.

On topic: The Michael Bay movies are terrible, horrible films. I will happily pass the time until I inevitably go to see AoE, and then complain about AoE for months, by watching the World Cup, staged in Brazil, which I have been looking forward to for four years.

I do, however, support those people who have qualms with the way the Brazilian administration has put this thing together. I hope the situation is improved by the time of the Rio Olympics.

I find it odd that among all the release dates on the list, I didn't see China in there at all.

I'm guessing Paramount would need to run it by the censors there first?

Agh, that's too bad. In my country it's been postponed with two weeks, as well.

Ok, I'll leave the rest of you to your internet dickwaving fight about which sports are cool and which aren't.

The premier is June 19th in Hong Kong and release is June 26th so I'd assume China will also get it on the 26th if not a bit sooner.

:D I needed a laugh to cheer me up after a shit day and this thread came through in spades. The phrase about Big Countries making for Small Worlds has never seemed so apt.......well done.

The World Cup is pretty much the single most popular and prestigious sporting event in the world, it makes reasonable sense to delay releasing the film in certain countries during the duration of the tournament.

World Cup football's great, Transformers are great, everything's cool, right?
