I can see where you're coming from, but I don't know. I'm not going to make any guesses.

Basically this, trying not to get my hopes up for it being "cheap". Anyone know when we can expect preorders though?

Welcome to the club. I think you will find that many masterpiece collectors are solely masterpiece collectors due to the price tag. Me for instance I only collect official MP's and some 3P MP's depending on how they look. Good luck catching up. Keep a lookout for second runs as to avoid aftermarket costs. Lucky it was just announced they are reissuing a bunch in the next year and a few are getting TRU releases.

    Thanks!

    I aaaaaaaaaam....!

Those announcements are actually what compelled me to start picking them up. I have a very specific list of figures I want, and I'm not at all interested in variants that don't resemble the original characters, so I'm hoping it doesn't put me too much in the hole. Now here's to hoping I can find the newly announced US releases in stores...

Try making some friends with the stock boy at your local toys r us. Which figures will you not pick up? At first i thought just having prowl was enough for me but now I have all 3 datsuns and also got a red alert ko, a character I never wanted but for some reason needed to have on my shelf.

Well, unfortunately the closest TRU to me is 90 miles away... (I live in Bumfuck, ND). I can get there every couple weeks or so when we pass through Fargo, but their selection is pretty sad. As for my wants, I'll list them below. I'm sure I'll add to it as I collect more, but for now I'm trying to keep it simple as to not overwhelm myself.

    Rodimus (Hasbro ver.)
    Starscream
    Skywarp
    Thundercracker
    Smokescreen
    Prowl
    Grimlock

Can anyone give me an estimate on what the typical prices are for these guys? I'm looking to get one of each and I don't want to pay too much. Are these prices too high or too low to be expected?

    MP-07 -- ????
    MP-04 -- $380
    MP-04S -- $300
    MP-01B -- $150

MP-7 used to run about 300. The prices dropped for a bit when the new Hasbro version came out, but now he seems to be a little hard to find. Mandarake has one for 27,000 Yen. MANDARAKE Online World Shop So after their handling fee and shipping it would be about 300 overall. AE has long-dead stock that pops up once in a while as well.

For those that don't know, Mandarake is a good source for items that were more plentiful in Japan. They're a storefront, so you always play a waiting game when you order something to see if they have it in stock, but it's a great resource for things that can't be found anywhere else.

I've found that I get better search results if I use the Japanese character name - go to the TF wiki and look up a character, then at the bottom of the article you'll find the foreign names section. Copy the Japanese name and paste it into Mandarake's search. For example, OP is better known as Convoy:コンボイ , Thundercracker is サンダークラッカー , Skywarp is スカイワープ

Thanks so much. I already have a Skywarp, its just Thundercracker I'm after. And I had no idea he'd run for $300... Any ideas on those other guys I listed? I'm hoping to pick up these guys and complete the line along with the MP08X reissue, but man, Thundercracker is going to set me back now.

So I've had to clear out my Detolfs as the decorator needed to make room so I decided to get a Season 1 group shot:

Something like that, I remember finding that a few days back, it would be cool if they made some proper episodes too.

    Also nice pic TB.
