Michael Bay spoke at length about the film's biggest new Transformer character Lockdown: "Lockdown is an interesting character. He travels the galaxy, he works for somebody else. And he's here for one person, one alien, and then he's out of here. So he doesn't really want to take sides. The cause and balance of the galaxy is kind of messed up when different species play with different species. And that opens up a whole other gigantic world for Transformers. Lockdown's ship has a lot of meaning that can go into other movies. There's a lot of backstory about that ship that's not laid out here. You're going to see a few things where you're like 'What is that? And what is that?' And you're going to see a couple shots like, 'Wait a minute, who are they?' But we don't answer those questions."
I would hope it's Unicron rather than the Quintessons. Because a giant transforming planet would look infinitely more incredible than five-faced egg things.
See, I'm in the opposite boat because I don't feel like movie Unicron is the sort to send lackeys to do stuff for him. As brutal as every other character is in the movies, Unicron might as well just go suck the planet up himself. The Quintessons, however, are infinitely more mysterious. While their original design leaves much to be desired, that's never stopped Bay & Co. in the past. Unicron should be saved for TF6 after much buildup which is why I hope he's not involved with this one.
I'm hoping Quints, but I suspect it's Unicron, and at the end of movie 6 we'll get the whole deal where Optimus sacrifices himself to turn Unicron into New Cybertron.
Thought it was already revealed it was Unicron and the nightship is his hand? The cockpit on the ship looks like a mini unicron in planet form too. Or i am tripping balls out again!
No, those are just speculations. Nothing has been confirmed about Unicron yet. Thus there is a chance he is not there at all.
Theory; TF4; The humans discover Galvatron in the ice and the consciousness of Megatron takes over the fallen Decepticon. Lockdown is sent to Earth via the Quintessons to get the Matrix - he fails and is killed by Prime. TF5; Galvatron begins to amass an army of Decepticons as a new Transformer arrives on earth sent by the Quintessons in order to get the Matrix. At the end they are revealed to actually be good also, though they need the Matrix to defeat an ancient evil - Unicron - who is now heading to Earth TF6; Galvatron is taken over by Unicron and a final battle between Optimus and Megatron/Galvatron results in both their deaths. Unicron comes to Earth to destroy the planet resulting in Bumblebee stepping up to become leader and defeating Unicron via the use of the Matrix. The 'tripping balls' option While Unicron or the Quintessons seems the most likely option - both hinting towards TF6 including Unicron... nothing about Unicron has been confirmed. Though the idea of Unicron being a massive combiner made out of the different ships in Lockdown's fleet is intriguing...
