    Dismissing me as 'wrong' which caldo15 did without substantiating it does not make him right and in the same situation it doesn't make you right either - it makes you come off as arrogant.

    I criticised the trailer, but it doesn't give everyone the right to essentially say I'm either not 'mentally healthy' or insult me or call me wrong for saying my points. I don't see why people cant understand that. I'm not criticising anyone on this message board for their opinions so why do they feel a necessity to insult me about mine?

    He doesn't respond to their cries to him... but maybe they are saving his voice for the film in a similar way as they intended to save Sentinel's betrayal for the film.

    Lockdown looks awesome and he's got his hook hand. Give some props for staying true to his character. Movie looks action packed and the GrimOp team looks great as I imaged.

    Including the quote from caldo15 was a joke. I was responding specifically to your argument that you are correct about the composition of shots based on your credentials, which you seem to have none of. If you want to present specific evidence of your position from the source material and explain how it supports your statement, I might be interested in responding to that. Right now, though, I don't have much to work with.

    EDIT: I will now respond to the rest of your post, which you added later:

    Can a person not be both right and arrogant?

    I can't claim responsibility for people attacking your mental health and I have not insulted you, but I will call you wrong. I won't call you wrong for saying your points, though. I'll call you wrong because I think you are wrong, and your points (what little substance they have) I also believe are mostly wrong. Without evidence for your claims, though, I can't respond to much.

    Again, I can't speak for people who insult you about your opinions, but as you just said, this is a message board. We put out opinions and others respond, sometimes with support and sometimes with criticism. Even if you never speak critically about someone else's opinion, when you put yours out there, part of the point is to garner responses.

    Look I don't usually care for Movies - I've not even bothered to watch TLOTR I have no intention of gong to see AOE - But I can still say that things can be good and bad at the same time - that is why ROTF is so contentious - it is a terrible mess script wise the acting is horrible the comedy is horrible - but you forgive it some of that for the Forest fight and a few moments.

    AOE is likely going to have loads of face palming clique moments (heck there's a few in the trailer) but it's got a Robot Dinosaur in it and even If I have to one day sit through 1:30 of utter Bay crap dialogue and terrible photography to see Grimlock stomp Cars then It's more than likely going to be be worth watching the once (or at least watching clips of the good bits).

    So nope I'm no movie fan of any sort Movies rarely entertain me; but I can see "some" Merit in the bombastic stupidity of it all - Perhaps the best suggestion is the suggestion I always offer about Pacific Rim which is to watch it in Russian or Japanese -It's way better when you don't understand how horrible the actor's dialogue delivery really is and you can just enjoy the spectacle. I think bay Movies are the same Imagine how much better they'd be if Shia La La Beef's speech is incomprehensible to you.

    -----

    Oh and yes it's rather cool Lockdown that has his claw... even if it does look rather like an angle bracket sticking out of his wrist rather than a claw. At least it helps make him look a little more Lockdown like - as the colour reminds me more of Bruce Wayne's typical choice of car when he's not wearing a Mask than it does Lockdown.

    I'm curious to know if his Hologram Driver looks like Mikaela still, or if that is the real Mikaela in a real Lamborghini and he just scans that to get his earth mode or if they provide a reason at all for the hologram if they've left that bit in or included it.

    I know how epic it is to have Lockdown's hook in the movie but I'm more impressed how they worked the orange calipers of the Aventador into his bot mode on his arms and knees...

    Conceding that there are bad things to even the things we enjoy is what gives everything flavor. It's necessary and healthy. Likewise with conceding there are good things to things we dislike.

    The problem wasn't your intent. You evidently wanted good discussion on a contentious aspect of the film. Lotta my film studies friends have heated debates regarding the quality of the film's cinematography, some absolutely detesting its hurried quality while others feel its emblematic and thematic to the nature of the constantly moving robots themselves (I lean towards the latter when Bay remembers to have moderation). But the way you're presenting yourself, you can understand, comes off as a bit elitist, prescribing a "correct answer" to an aesthetic experience that is, by definition, a subjective viewpoint. Just something to consider. Healthy discussion is definitely possible if all parties concede to the ultimate, universally agreeable viewpoint that everyone is entitled to their respective and respectable opinion. Implying otherwise is when things get heated.

    That being said (and for the sake of staying on topic)...

    I've been wondering what sort of threat could possibly merit the introduction of the Dinobots. What with our... five or six or however many Autobots and who knows how many Dinobots, opposed to our three confirmed Decepticons and/or antagonists, I was concerned things were a little unfairly stacked againts the Cons to the point things would cease to become interesting. Looks like Stinger clones and, as rumored, Vehicons will be populating the battle fields. After the protoforms for the last two movies, I have to say I genuinely miss the relatively tiny cast of the first movie wherein defeating only a handful of truly formidable cons was a real ordeal. That being said, I can do hack-and-slash fun so long as we're treated to some really neat, more thought out robot moments too, be they dialogue, plot scenes or involved fight sequences. Looks like we're getting some of that. The shots with Optimus and... Cade??? look particularly thoughtful and of a more meditative aesthetic than robot/human dialogue scenes from previous movies.

    All in all, whether it turns out to be glitter or a shitter, I'll love seeing it.

    Is not really much of a joke when he just calls me wrong. Anyway, if you want me to support my points then I'm fine to do that. Going to use two examples from the HD screenshots above;

    Examples;
    [IMG]
    Moving this shot back would allow for us to see the robots on screen, instead the shot is too close and is focused somewhere between Cade and Lockdown.

    This means the viewers focus is not on the actual characters;
    - Optimus is off-screen
    - Lockdown has his face half off-screen
    - Cade is shoved at the bottom of the screen
    So who are we meant to be focusing on in this scene?

    It would have been easy to either move the robots over or have a different camera angle because they have a massive gap of nothing on the right side. Literally about 1/4 of the screen is empty of anything important.

    [IMG][/QUOTE]

    The same situation occurs in this shot. The focus is obviously intended to be on Optimus - though if that is the case then why is 1/2 of the screen taken up by the pillar that he gets thrown into?

    Lockdown is also barely on-screen due to this.

    I understand the director has to work without the robots their and that its added in post-production, but these camera angles are all over the place to the point where it feels like he didn't understand where the robots would be during the scene.

    Indeed it did - evident of my point above.

    Its the scene where a car (?) is thrown at the screen and Bumblebee is fighting an enemy in the distance. Its either Galvatron himself or one of the Galvatron style drones we see at the end of the trailer.

    I don't mean to come off as elitist - but it just seems a lot of people find no flaws in the trailer when they are released and while they are entitled to their own opinion - I also have my own on the topic and in an attempt to get a discussion going when I brought these points up, everyone started going nuts because I was criticising their 'perfect trailer'

    Thanks.

    I bet the bland colour of Lockdown is going to make it hard for the general audience to pick him out - perhaps that is why they decide for the most part to make the Dinobots spikey and the Autobots and "Generics" reasonably colourful to compensate for his dark colours.

    https://flic.kr/p/nBHr6y

    Sorry But Bay's Cinematography style is quite often clique ridden drivel.

    But that said some of the errors picked out above might have an excuse depending on what the following shots are.

    For example If Lockdown moves in close to the downed Optimus in the same framing he could hook him and rotate him towards and "into" the camera as a scene transition cut.. If it ends the shot with Optimus on his backside and the is just a huge pillar in shot then the only excuse for that being the case is lazy frame locking on set or something to do with the 3D.

    The Cade on the ground shot makes sense if he falls into that position or the shot drops to pick him up - remember they don't want you to notice the CGI isn't always much better than a Videogame Cut scene due to the lack of multiple additional render passes it needs that the usually miss out. So the idea is likely to do what you can to keep the robots in the dark or out of shot or moving quickly when it's daylight. if one is centre frame then that is going to require tones more time on it to not look horrible. so is more expensive than something speed blurring past in a hurry or something in the background is.

    They also need to put things in the way to make the robots look like they are "in" the scene and not plastered on afterwards.

    I still can't get over the Optimus running from the ship scene! Its just beautiful! Hopefully they get all the CGI to look like that. That first lockdown transformation honestly looks like crap.

    I think it's safe to say with the amount of ass-kicking the Autobots are doing in TF4, all the Vehicons are pretty much f**ked.
