    holy crap...

I can SO see a repaint come out with a "modified" transformation for an official bird mode. Not that I would buy it for "bird mode" but that sure does work well..

I am not sure if I should get the green one, or the blue one. There is no quality difference right?

Are those grey shoulder things actually supposed to come out? I'd like to do it with mine but they seem to be pretty well stuck in and it feels like I'm about to break something when I try to pull or push them out. I'd hate to be forcing something that's glued in or has a little tab inside holding them in place.

I didn't realize those were removable until just now and tried it out on my Grimwing. His left shoulder one came out with so little pressure, I can't imagine that there was any glue whatsoever. I had to push a little harder on the other shoulder, but it didn't require any more force than a usual 5mm weapon peg.

Maybe there is some mold flash on yours that it making it a bit more difficult?

Thanks, guys. Seemed I just needed to be a bit braver with my efforts to get them out. Once I knew they should come out fairly easily and aren't fixed in place by anything but peg friction I just took a biro and pushed them right out.

Although right now they're pegged into his forearms like Power Bracelets. :)

The chest does not come close to working right even after nail polishing it to within an inch of it's life - but I do still like him even with a ropey chest.

Kind of makes me wonder if Grimwing was supposed to the a Predacon version of Dreadwing.

Did you paint the runes on his weapon?

Yeah, I painted his face red and his TRON lights yellow.

Making him more show-accurate, even when the toy isn't. :p

So I tried customizing it the best I could. I don't get why Darksteel's toy is so different from the show model.

Because it's easier and cheaper to repaint an existing mold, than it is to engineer an all new mold, for a toy line that was coming to an end. Darksteel and Skylynx represented some of the very last figures.

Yeah, it felt like Darksteel and Sky-Lynx were BASED on Grimwing and Skystalker, rather than being repaints of them.

I wished they would have made the show models for those two.

My target dropped them down even further to $9, so picked up a second to still have a Darksteel after I use the Deathsaurus reprolabels on my original. Still love the mold enough to not mind having three versions of it. (Honestly wouldn't mind getting one more of all three and doing that Magmatron partswap someone did a while back, if I had the money.)

Honestly Darksteel, and to a lesser extent Sky Lynx, got off relatively well in terms of show accuracy; everything's there just the proportions are all off. Definitely feels like the show models were based on the toys rather than the other way round though.

Just picked this guy up on clearance yesterday, and I am lovin' him. He looks badass. He feels solid, and he's got an imposing stature.

I feel like I'm transforming this guy wrong...his pelvis doesn't click into position in either mode, his shoulders sit low, and light is pouring through his chest cavity like a piece of Swiss cheese.
