Heh, those actually look pretty awesome.

I especially love the "Est. 1984".

    Interesting idea.
So it's kind of like the N-word, that only other Geewunners can say it without being a bad thing?

If you sell them, you'd have to modify the logos.

    Love it, want it.

Maybe if selling them is too much of a hassle, just have the templates downloadable and people can have their own shirts made.

Just add some kind of signature to it to identify it as your work.

Nah, someone might mistake me for one if I wore this.

Thanks! It's silly, but why not. The finished versions actually turned out really well - better than I thought for just a 2-color process.

But it's not a bad thing. Certain continiuty-specific people can try to make it sound that way, but there's no negative weight behind it imo.

Surprisingly, no I don't. For short-run shirts like this, it's actually not an issue legally (for them). If it said Transformers AND had the logos, that's a different story. But t-shirt printers typically don't have issues with symbol-only printing as they do tons of stuff like this all time featuring symbols/logos of movie & music related prints.

Yeah, I'll see. I kind of like the idea that I'm currently the only person in the world that has these, but I also think it would be cool if a few other fans out there had them, too. Maybe I'll make a poll one of these days to gauge. I don't imagine making a limited 100 or so run of something this tongue-in-cheek-subtle could be any more 'infringing' than 3rd parties who make thousands of actual figures, but who knows. People clearly can bent out of shape for a lot less here.

Depends on the amount and where you'll have it printed, though. A local t-shirt printer probably won't even flinch, but I once worked on a heavily modified Autobot insignia (way over the point where it would cross any trademark violations), which was submitted to a big chain printer for shirts for charity, and it got completely shot down.

Sounds like you're going to be fine, though, especially if you're only printing one or a couple. :thumb

Oh yeah, I've been around that block as well, back when I was heavily involved with media collateral printing. One of our clients apparently had the Star Wars "Rebels" logo somewhere in their shirt design, and the way we even found that out was because the (big chain) printer caught it and denied it. Plus some other similar instances.

Yeah, the printer I used for mine didn't have an issue. And I've been looking into some other print-per-order options. But again, I'm still playing it by ear. I think that unless I had 50-100 guarantees, there's no point.

Very cool. I would wear it, and I don't usually like fan type shirts either, unless they are more subtle and/or clever, like this.

I don't identify myself as a geewunner but that's what got me into the franchise. So to all those who say "boo" to geewunners...I'm proud to have been there for it and you can call me a geewunner anytime. I'd get a shirt!

You can still be a G1 fan and NOT be a "Geewunner"

    Exactly THIS.

Incepticon, you can attempt to put your own personal spin on the term all you want, "taking it back" if you will, but the fact of the matter is it came about as an insult and that is largely how it is still used. Being lumped in with those people isn't really a good thing.

So no, while I may have got into Transformers during G1 (I'm 32 and discovered them when I was four or so), and while I do love G1 and stuff evocative of that era (characters, fiction modernized toys), there's no way in hell I would wear a shirt that associates me with the absolute worst people in this fandom.

    I like Transformers.
