So the founder packages are absolutely ridiculous, but holy shit are those robot designs lovely. I would honestly give away half my collection for a Voyager Astraea.

Anyone know if the founder bots can be earned ingame, or do we have to buy them?

This is disgusting. You're charging someone to beta test your product. You have beta testers but now you want to cut the # and make people buy it. For a browser game. It's not even a dedicated client.

No, I'm not buying a founders pack. I've beta tested Star Wars: Attack Squadron, StarCraft 2/HOTS, Diablo 3/ROS, Hearthstone, Marvel Heroes, Mass Effect 3, Halo 3/Reach, Infinite Crisis, Strife, DOTA2, and other things all the way back to Windows 2000 and Windows XP. I paid nothing for any of those. And yet a small game, browser based, with no actual client of it's own, is charging $44+ for a free to play game.

I think it's pretty sad that they want to grab cash so fast. Just shameless. Yea people will sink money into farmville, but this is getting to be a habit. Not to mention how poorly browser games are optimized, running on a 4gb Geforce 780 I have issues with SW: Attack Squadron [which also uses the unity engine, a true pos], but I run StarCraft 2 on max settings, and the same for Skyrim. No thanks Jagex.

From my rant on the TFU forums (Swear words toned down, so they wouldn't delete it):

I don't look at it, as a "Oh, they're asking $500 AUD for the top tier, but only idiots would buy that" kind of thing. I look at it in the very cynical view that they actually expect anyone to fork out $500 for a game noone's even played yet, which wouldn't even give you access to the beta, and to placate you, give you a $30 toy and a bunch of stuff ingame that they expect, EXPECT mind you, everyone else to pay $800 AUD for.

It's nothing but a colossal "fuck you" to their potential customers, and stating they only see their players as nothing more than moneybags on legs.

Doubletake is awesome. If there was an option to just pay for him I'd become a Founder. As it is I'm not willing to spend that much just because I want one bot (who happens to be in the second most expensive package).

When Mechwarrior Online did their Founder thing there was a tier that let people pick which of the four Founder mechs they wanted, and then the highest tier gave all four. It would be great if these guys followed that example.

Also I hope Hasbro/Takara look into making a toyline for these guys. Not just cheap repaints of other figures that are sorta similar but legitimate molds. Deluxe Doubletake and Catapult would be insta-buys for me. Also a voyager Derail would be epic.

Oh founders packs. I was fooled once with Mechwarrior online... not again, not at these insane prices and not on such a risky property.

I like how they say the top pack is worth £480... no its not. I know they can technically say that's the case when they are the people giving it the values but can they honestly keep a straight face when they say its value for money for a game that at retail would be more like £29.99?

Being a browser game, it's akin to something like an iOS/Android game for $9.99
I don't know how well it will go. It's semi MOBA, semi third person shooter, and it's not like Jagex is Rocksteady or Bungie that is known for making great games. Demanding so much money upfront for something so small, it's sad and greedy.

So basically Smite with TF's? honestly I do like the idea but its just these prices.

I know that theirs a lot of math behind FTP prices to tempt the most people and get the most money before pushing most away but it really seems like they pull these out their ass and hope some rich kids get a hold of daddys card. I just want a FTP game that gives me the option to just unlock the whole thing for what would be a normal retail price rather then give me BS "founders packs".

The designs look very good. The bot modes are varied but seem a little "truckcentrified" to me as alt modes. The prices are jaw droppingly bad. I think...at 15 bucks a month for W.O.W. I may have spent about 400 dollars on that game over the course of owning it. I may have spent 60 bucks on various pets and I spent at least 40 on my friends kid to farm some mats on my druid. In total...500 bucks. OVER THE SPAN OF 4 YEARS! These people want you to spend, UP FRONT, the kind of money that a person whittles away from their wallet over years of time for the top MMO out there? Theyre out of their mind. End of. Asking ANY money at all for a blind beta of a game...didnt Day-Z do this? I can see this ending up in court somehow. Jagex has the opinion were all walking stacks of money.

Pretty much. Smite's beta pack thing was $30 for ALL the champions. $30.
