Some toolings are worth owning more than once, A Screemer might be but its always better to get something I don't own any version of than something I am already going to own at least twice.

After like 10 uses, you'd think that the mold would be unusable at this point in time?

 

haha! I have at least 4 of those moulds and I feel like it should be retired, period. This has definitely got to be the last uses IMO?

 

I still feel it should get one more use, as an official Blue Powered Convoy. I wouldn't say no to a Shining-Magnus yellow either, but that one's further down the list. After that, yeah, give this mold a proper Viking funeral for its great deeds over the last eight years, and lay it to rest.

It's a shame the Cloud figure came along and put that much more strain on the mold before a few last new-color variations (like this one) came along.

Let's not all freak out about mold degradation just yet. Hasbro and Takara were able to tighten up that seeker mold quite nicely for the Generations figures and Asia sets. Maybe they'll work some of that magic on this one.

 

That tends not to apply to BotCon exclusives. Hasbro/TakaraTomy only tend to put that effort in for retail releases.

I would have preferred Cybertron Dark Scorponok to make it even more different than Botcon Double Punch.

 

Not me as while it was great they retooled Dark Scorponok for Cybertron, using that tail again would be a mistake for any other release. As the tail has the extra hindrance of needing a Cyber Key.

All this talk about how the mould is showing its age and wear and tear just makes me VERY tempted to get Cloud Optimus, thou...  

 

Since they used it for Cloud its probably as tight as ever. I don't recall any version seeming loose.

 

For what it's worth, my SDCC Nemesis Prime was never able to hold his rifle. Although the United/Henkei Magnus I used to own had absolutely no problems with the joints.

I think most others are referring to "age" and "wear and tear" due to the fact that it's 8 years old, and it's about time for a new aesthetic. Which is personally my biggest gripe. Not to continue beating the dead horse, but Beast Hunters Optimus (with the nemesis head) would have worked wonders for this character choice, without using yet another previously used mold.

 

you know with a Fansprojects or Maketoys trailer and a new head this toy could turn out to be a IDW Sentinel Prime.
