    Hi all

I am not sure if anyone can help me out here but, I need some advise on packing away my boxed games when I move out.
I am planning to move out in the next three or four months but I need to make sure my delicate stuff doesnt get trashed in transit. I havent even gotten to my TF toys yet :(  There in weak cardboard boxes at the moment.
My current gaming stuff include, quite a few original PS1 games, boxed PC games, a handful of NES games and of course, the SNES and Gameboy games.
Anyway, I planning on buying on a plastic storage container. Something like this:
Crystal Storage Box & Lid Clear 24ltr at wilko.com
    Is this ideal?

But in terms of arranging them inside the container, do I line side by side or stack them on top of each other and put the heaviest item at the bottom?

Shouldn't matter so long as they're stable and aren't going to slide around the box. could use a cardboard box or even a longbox, depending on what you've got. Don't be afraid to rotate or have them packed at different orientations in order to fit better.

Do you still have the original packaging the games came in (cd jewel cases, cardboard boxes, etc)? If you still have those then you really shouldn't have to worry too much. The crystal storage box and lid should protect them pretty well from crushing and moisture with in reason (not being run over by a moving van, submerged in a lake, etc). I would make sure to put some padding on the bottom and the sides (newspaper, bubble wrap, sheets, old clothes and the like) for cushioning and you should be good to go.

If you don't have any of the packaging, I would pack the cd's in those clear binder cd holders to keep them from getting scratched/chipped. For the cartridges, I'd pack some soft goods (clothes, linen, towels) in with them and they should be fine. The more the better.

Heavier items should go in the bottom with lighter items on top but be sure that you don't make it too heavy. A great tip I picked up when I moved across country was to pack your heavier items in smaller boxes and use the larger boxes for lighter contents. That way you minimize injury, someone dropping the box due to exhaustion and having some insanely heavy box that invariably begins to tear itself open at an inopportune time. And remember that alot of cd's, video games in one box can get pretty heavy.

Hope this helps and good luck with your move.

For added protection, you could line the boxes with bubble wrap, and then use other packing material to fill in any loose space. Then things will be cushioned and won't bang into each other.

If you are just moving from one house to another, just put them in the box. No reason to do some elaborate padding job. Its not like they are going to shatter over being moved. Unless you are kicking the box around, they'll be fine.
