Hasbro should be ashamed, Grimlock looks like a dachshund in dino mode. They think they are fooling people buy putting chrome on it that it is cool/collectible. It's like putting glitter on a turd...Ugh I only bought two leader class movie toys, but both of them were awesome. ROTF leader class Optimus and Hunt for the Decepticons Starscream put these to shame.
... Why are you talking to me like you know me? Was I bashing Bay? No, I like him. Was I crying about the twins or devestator's balls? No, I like Devy. Am I a G1 fanboy? Fuck no. Was my comment 8 years long being a fucking crybaby? No. Do I like the Avengers? Not really. Did I jizz my pants? No. If I ever bash ROTF, it's because of the use of scenes over and over again. But I'm sure you're not attentive enough to notice. So, it's obviously who has the fucking mental problems. Now, calm down you little, little boy.
Perhaps a KO group will get the Voyager and upscale him like they did with DOTM Megs. Yeah, that'd be great
Wh... What? Why? Uh? No! Ew. Dammit Hasbro! I always defend you guys and stay by your side, but no. This... No.
You know, I really really enjoy LC Brawl. Wouldn't want my movie collection to be without him, in fact. But I never understood the hyperbole that surrounds this figure. Everyone always calls him the perfect movie figure and stuff like that. Really? Isn't that kinda like saying Voyager Ratchet is near perfect? Has anyone actually seen the cgi animation of Brawl? The toy is nowhere near accurate. Also, his legs are rendered nearly immobile, not to mention his feet. Posing him to stand other than at "dull attention" is a slight nightmare and nigh impossible. Like I said, I personally like Brawl (and Ratchet), but to say he's near perfect is slightly exaggerative IMHO.
Isn't that group in jail? Anyway, I think, given the size of Grimlock in the movie, he would actually benefit from the super size that the KO group gave the others. I still wish they would have just upsized the toys to leader class and not unicron-class haha
I honestly don't think I'm gonna mind this guy aside from the shoulder joints but that's whatever to me. I might hold out and see better pics of what Takara has, but for now I think I'm still gonna get him. I love Grimmy.
the crhome and shoulder joints doesnt make it a bad figure, but the elongated torso, short tail, exposed hands in alternate mode, and a dinosaur head that is almost the same size as the voyager(which makes for a pretty weird proportions), the so much smaller size for the same pricepoint of the figure, the lack of any gimmick, and a transformation relatively less complex than its voyager counterpart, yeah, i dont think the problem with the figure are not ONLY the ratchets of the arms and the chrome
Lets brake this down... Elongated torso? Meh doesn't bother me and really shouldn't bother people as much as it does, ive seen far worse proportions (see the beast wars line...and most of the TFP Predakings...) Short tail? I can live with it, voyagers is tiny unless you clip the weapon on it which just looks rediculous...Actually, every grimlock toy has had a very stubby tail...and as a matter of fact, no Grimlock toy has amazing proportions... Exposed hands, we have had this a lot before... doesn't excuse it, but doesn't kill the figure, who is going to view this guy from the side anway? -.- Dino head? See points 1 and 2 Smaller leader class size...We have had this size leader since Weaponizer Prime and Bee, also see Beast Hunters Ultimate Predaking...We should of known this would be the norm. No gimmick? THANK PRIMUS! Less complex transformation, GOOD! Not every figure needs to have a ROTF Optimus Prime transformation, or DOTM Ironhide... Price point...Admittedly i have to agree with you on this one, the price is stupid. I'll judge this guy in hand but honestly i have seen far worse figures. all these points have been done in each transformers toy line, admittedly usually better...but looking at the photo's, and then reading the thread, it makes me think of the figures that are far worse than this, and yet get praised...simply because they aren't movie figures.
yes, but compare it to the voyager, the tail is worst than the leader but everything else is far better designed in dino mode, but they still say to the fans that this line is for collectors and such things, but as far as im concerned the generations line only have 4 or 5 figures worth picking, the rest are still to damn simple it hurst, and still they want to focus on a far less complicated line for tf4 which really makes me sad
Yeah I feel like that too. Now I certainly respect what HasTak and all the very talented creators involved have done to build our beloved Transformers brand over the last 30 years, but I admit some of the decisions they have made in the last few years do mystify me. There certainly may be valid business reasons behind these decisions but... damned if I know what they are. Some examples of what I'm talking about: The long delay before releasing toys for their last two (main not counting Rescue Bots here) Transformers animated series (Animated and Prime) after the premiers of those series. The first edition thing. I don't get it with Prime and now AoE. Why invest in tooling expenses to make two molds of the same character (not even a variation) in the same size class and released so closely together?
I think you mean DOTM Sentinel Prime, perhaps? I thought Ironhide was very simplistic. The other things you mentioned are fine here and there, but they just happen to all be on one toy, which is what I think people are getting upset about. I'm starting to warm up to it a little more. I wish there wasn't any chrome and the size could be bigger, if only because that likely means we will have small leaders for the rest of the line. I definitely know I will be getting it. Say, does anyone expect the voyager dino to be one of the 4 deluxe ones we already have?
In every...and i mean EVERY TF line, there always figures that are a little more complex then the others, or a bit simpler. That will never change, not even in the Generations line, hell its been the same since Generations began years ago! The Chug line has many simple figures (Looks over at Voyager Jetfire, Classics Optimus, RTS Jazz, Drift/Blurr, Cyclonus etc) Yet is praised beyond belief. at least 90% of the Cybertron line is a little simple, yet some of the best figures ever have came from that line (Vector Prime or Cybertron leader Optimus anyone?) Beast Wars was pretty simple and yet again, many in the fandom love the line. Animated...Well that speaks for itself really Even our beloved G1 had some of the most simplest transformations ever. Yet according to at least 80% of the fandom that is the only TF series that should exist! I understand peoples frustration with Grimlock, he hardly has the wow factor and does look like an oversized voyager, but to disregard the ENTIRE line because of him is fucking ridiculous. The plastic looks decent quality and he is...somewhat accurate in robot mode. It does suck that there is no lights or sounds and he could of been taller, to at least add more heft to him, but as i said, this is the first attempt at this version of Grimlock, there are going to be faults, minor or extreme. It's 2007 all over again. We get some accurate toys, and some toys that look NOTHING like the CGI model.
As i said, i don't think Jetfire is going to be this small, looking at the toy fair pics, he towers the voyagers. And even if it ends up that he doesn't, and it's just the angles, he looks a lot beefier and sturdier. I think Grimlock literally got the short straw in this line.
I guess I'm one of the few who actually like the look of this figure, in bot mode anyway. The dino mode is meh, especially with that overly long torso, but I quite dig the bot mode.
