Ok so...I was never really a fan of the toy design to begin with although it has grown on me. I never understood all the goldish color, when clearly it needs some red thrown in. At least the added chrome adds another "color" to him. The original had a chrome chest as well, albeit a different color. If I get him be will not be displayed in Dino mode so the odd placement of chrome doesn't bother me translated into that form.

Having said all that, I feel that if Hasbro stuck with the original colors, and this were the Takara version, a lot of people would change their tune. Of course there would be a few different paint apps, before ppl jump all over me about this observation.

I don't think it makes a difference if his chest and shoulders are chrome. I'll end up with one anyhow.

That necklace of spikes sure would be cool in chrome. Nope. It is literally the only part of his chest that is dull plastic. The chrome placement is a perfect negative image of what it should be.

Dino teeth sure would be cool in chrome. Nope. It's literally the only part of the dino head that isn't chrome.

Get it right!

gay over, this line was shit ..now this made it even more shitty, less plastic, less gimmick, with shitty transformation. hope TF5 fix this series with more accreted complex transformation. better yet give me leader gravation, voyager lockdown, and some human BFF then you have my permission to die.

 

I'm going to wait for reviews and see how Grimlock looks in person before I decide whether or not to buy him. Maybe someday takara will do a REAL movie masterpiece line with new molds... or makes more dual model kits.

You don't have to buy any of it. And I think you mean leader Galvatron. You should collect something else if Transformers pisses you off so bad. I on the other hand enjoy this hobby.

 

It doesn't look that bad, but the original release design definitely looks better even though it was more of a single-block-color deal going on. I do wish that it was movie accurate, because one could even keep the deluxe Dinobots the same colors and make Grimlock movie-accurate without having major color issues, but oh well. My bigger issue than the chrome is how the feet got filed down. I love the knightly elf boot thing going on, it's one of my favorite robot foot design aesthetics, and I loved the Dinobots having it. Oh well.

Still probably getting one, but it'll likely be the Takara...

 

God, I can not decide which Grimlock I want. The bot mode for Voyager is really nice but I hate the weapon (though I think I can do a mod to make him actually hold it proper). The leader looks cool but the t-rex mode, right now, is too long.

God, I hope Vangelus does a comparison video soon so i can decide before May.

 

Robot mode is fantastic. Dino mode, not so much. I think I'll just stick with the voager, which is decent in both modes.

 

I really didn't like how long the torso was in Dino mode already (He almost looks like he is wearing a Dino-Girdle) but the chrome just kind of gives me the extra reason to just stick with the voyager version.

 

Chrome is a definite improvement over the flat grey or bling gold. Looks more accurate to the movie... Too bad the Rex mode is an elongated mess. Was looking forward to a kickarse Grimlock toy (besides mp08)... Looks like the wait continues...

 

I didn't think they could improve on the fact they'd given Grimlock nipple tassels. And then they gave him chrome nipple tassels. Classy.

 

Torso in dino mode is too long or something; whatever it is, it just looks terrible.

 

Aaaand he's been ruined. Great job hasbro you f***ing idiots.

wow didn't think they could make that figure look a million times worse lol , what a shiny turd that thing is now... Hasbro must think our kids like shiny stuff now with the amount of chrome they are throwing around. They must have got a deal on chrome from the black market lol.. Its almost like after Hasbro went after these KO makers they turned around and gave them production work because they see how cheap they could get things made through them lol

Or to put it another way I am leaving so much Hasbro stuff for Clearance sales this time around simple as the decos they apply to the toys show so little good taste.

I just hope that Takara's fix that.

Oh well I guess I can make do with playing with just Drift for a while.

If he was coloured like an Egg Plant at least he'd look like Beast Wars Megatron.

I don't dislike Chrome at all - but how do them manage to always put it in the worst possible place or not apply a laquer of the sort of shade that would make the toys look - well "good".

if he was chromed and then covered in smoke laquer and his body colour was aged Brown (a sort of mucky metallic brown) then he'd look damn cool... and still be sorta shiny too - but having all the Grimlocks be Copper/Orange - is deranged - there is no evidence he's Copper in the movie - and only the unreleased G2 one was anywhere near being orange.

Drk metallic Brown would have looked sorta badass - are they influenced by the colour of your typical Jurrassic Park T-rex toy or something like that ?

Or does he really go copper when he's in robot mode ?

Oh well I guess you could spray it.

 

I like it. I could paint the chrome, but other than that, pretty good in my opinion.
