I think most people who say this looks like a mcdonalds toy think back to the "good old days" when the mcdonalds toys were actually decent little toys.

That said, the first thing that I thought of is: This looks like a mcdonalds toy.
Now granted mcdonalds toys have changed over the years, and all that stuff.. But I don't want my modern deluxes looking like a 1986 mcdonalds toy.

Something about this guy just looks super cheap looking. And while I know what the show model looks like, this to me doesn't feel super close to what was seen in the show. The proportions feel off. I'm not a beast machines fan, but I always thought Tankor was one of the better looking things in the show. And this.. This just doesn't cut it.

Maybe it's all that cheap looking grey plastic as opposed to a metallic paint job (or that better darker metallic looking silver that has been used before). I don't know..
    But this disappoints me greatly!

I couldn't possibly disagree with you more. The 30th line has been riddled with problems.
From improper springs/tollerances on giant robots that make them more floppy then overcooked spaghetti, to deluxes that by all right should be AMAZING but instead are breaking left and right (waspinator), to poor engineering (skids, don't tell me that you LIKE how his arms move).

    Lets list some more..
    Minicons - Trash
Starscream - Could have been perfect if they included some wrist rotation
Scoop - Finally one I like
Trailbreaker/hoist - would have been perfect if their size wasn't chopped for cost saving purposes..
Bumble bee - Front of the bot looks fine, back of the bot is attrocious
    Megatron - I guess he's ok.
Blitzwing/double dealer - crappy engineering makes crappy shoulders
Rhinox - many have super wobbly lose hips, engineering shows that there should be some kind of ratchet there that's not present.
Orion pax - I like this one
Springer/sandstorm - probably the best things that have come out as part of the thrilling 30.

Anything else I should comment on?
I definitely don't feel that the 30th line has been fantastic, and very few of the figures are "just as good" as classics hound, and the lambos, and mirage, and...

I genuinely don't understand how can someone be either so thick or so goddamn stupid to not be able to get that the figures are being put into the comics BECAUSE they were getting a new toy.

Because yeah Hasbro is totally going to make a fucking Tankor toy JUST BECAUSE he has a one-pannel CAMEO in the comic.

Makes complete fucking sense....that is only if you're a complete moron.

I honestly think a big part of it isthe cheap looking gray plastic. That is the first thing that stood out to me (in a bad way) when I saw the picture

I really wish they'd stop using that grey plastic.
That grey plastic has been something i've hated for years now..

Wait, the tie in for the Lego movie isn't Legos?!

As for the toy, I think I'll still get him, but he's going to the back row (assuming he can see over the bot in front of him).

I'm really glad they didn't waste a voyager spot on this guy, though. Can you imagine the outrage if Tankor got a voyager but Rhinox got a deluxe?

Now bring on that rumored voyager Brainstorm! :)

If the silver color they used for his shoulders was used instead of the gray plastic of his arms and legs, I think he'd look better. Can anyone digibash this in?

I still say he should've been a Voyager, especially since he was already one when he was first released a few months back.

    This just seems.....wrong.

One of the reasons I would prefer Generations toys to stick to G1-early BW era toys is because from late BW on the toys were pretty well made and already incorporated most of what we take for granted in modern toys (excluding of course Armada, but F### Armada – unless they want to make a better articulated Tidal Wave of the exact same size, I’d happily table my ‘F### Armada’ attitude for that toy).

This Tankor is a perfect example of this. The original BM Tankor is superior in every way (aside from show accuracy, but who cares, it’s not like people were looking to reenact scenes from the show by buying dozens of these things, bringing them to a techno dance club and pretending to have them chase around animals while avoiding the club kids dancing and doing X). Better tank, better robot, cooler hidden weapon gimmicks, just flat out better. If you can’t improve upon the original toy, pick a different toy.

Looks a little stumpy. The Beast Machines Tankor looks a lot better in my opinion.

Wouldn't surprise me if someone ended up buying it for 100$+ just for the sake of doing the first "video review".
Complete with shaking camera, fingers covered in Cheetos dust and stuttering voice, of cause.

That awkward moment when you can't help but wonder if the whiners have been around since Beast Machines, let alone ever watched the show, to even appreciate that this is literally the perfect Tankor; more over, that this is a blessing after the lack of great representation in the actual BM line.

Not impressed. I'm glad they tried, but it could have been so much better.

I am often able to forgive a poor alt mode if the bot mode looks excellent (see Universe Cyclonus). Tankor, however doesn't do enough in bot mode to justify how bad the alt mode looks.

Not being a Voyager hurts, as it loses the size that would be required to give this toy added articulation and character (articulated jaw, articulated cannon prongs, flip out saw blade, and "chicken-legs"). I know chicken legs get hated on by many but this was a part of the original animated design. I think if they maintained the original leg design it would have gone a long way to improving the look of the bot mode (ironically making him shorter but I could deal).

Ignore size for a second. The shoulder flaps should come down and are mistransformed I think

I found my old Tankor looks more stylish.
