Ain't gonna happen. A previous description for the Windblade mini made it really sound like Starscream is still in charge.
Well,then that doesn't bode well for Rodimus. I'm just hoping he doesn't actually die but takes a new role.
Nothing says that Rodimus doesn't end up taking on some sort of side quest (with another 'bot or two in tow), and that we check in on him/them every so often like with the Pax story in RID. Or maybe he takes a (very) reluctant second in command role under Megatron. I just don't think he's going to get killed off.
It would be a shame to flush Roddy's character development from "Remain in the Light" down the toilet. Hopefully Rodimus doesn't turn out to be Robo-Jesus. Of course, maybe he gets a ro-boner for Windblade and stays on Cybertron.
That was the primary thing that stood out to me, as far was new developments since yesterday are concerned; I mean the updated MTMTE notes just said the same thing twice. For anyone getting their hopes up about Nautica -from which I'm not excluding myself - the worst case scenario is probably that this previously unheralded character is grist for the mill of Windblade's characterisation; a red shirt, perhaps long dead. On the other hand, Nautica might well be a repaint/retool of Wingblade. If Wingblade's VTOL fan wings are stubby enough they could fairly easily be reconsidered as propulsion for some kind of hovercraft and/or submarine as befits Nautica's name. For all we know now, she could still be a quite capable flier also. Perish the thought of fanfics in which Nautica is Broadside's girlfriend! In all seriousness I am enthusiastic and curious to see how the more or less hotly updated expansions of G1 within and beyond IDW. On another strata, the thought of getting some more variety in alt-modes, such as maritime vehicles both in the fiction and in toy form appeals to me too. Of course Seaspray is represented on a lot of Classics shelves - including my own - with his 'yellow box'/AA Voyager figure. However I recall one post in the Hasbro toy leak thread that mentioned a Deluxe Seaspray. Unfortunately that remained unverified in a tide of people getting excited about Deluxe Impactor and then realizing it was a component of Ruination. On the long shot that there may in fact be a Deluxe Seaspray, not only might this bean interesting if distant second contender for a Nautica figure, but both figures might get a leg up in the fiction. So far in IDW, Seaspray's watched Optimus Prime and Megatron fight, showed up on Earth to get in and out of trouble with Skywatch, then appearing in neither MTMTE nor RID. Perhaps with the possible advent of a third ongoing and the roster shuffling that Dark Cybertron may facilitate, this oversight might be amended with some stimulating character crafting.
I know, but IDW does it the worst way. They just do an info dump, and they're like "good enough!" At least Roberts is good enough as a writer to make it interesting by introducing new aspects to the repeated concepts, but it's getting really tiresome. Look at Spotlight: Trailcutter. The perfect hook for new readers! What's going on? Why are they on their quest? Where are the big names? Who knows! As opposed to DC: #1. You know everything that happened! And don't give a damn.
No kidding. I've been nothing but bored by DC and ever since the pic of Autobot Megatron I've been wanting it to be wrapped up and done with yesterday. Yup.
Misfire: "Wha Megatron is an Autobot?" Pauses to think. "Does that means I can be one to?" Skids: :Groans: "Please No, Primus is this my punishment since I am lapsed Primalist." Misfire: "Skiddles, look every one it Skiddles...Grimsy can you say Skiddles." Skids: "Its Skids...." Grimlock: "Skkkkidddles." Skids: "Unicron take me now."
I can only imagine the conversation Megatron is going to have with Tarn: "All that stuff I wrote, all that rhetoric? Well...it was just because I was petulant." "All your words - all your great words - all the 'my weapon is my tool and one I only carry unwillingly' - all that was a lie? A tantrum because the Council wouldn't listen to you?" "Yeah...things got out of hand..."
I'm no fan of Megatron as a character, but I have a good feeling that him joining the crew of the Lost Light is exactly the remedy for that.
I'm actually not happy with the idea of an Autobot Megatron unless they have him patch up his friendship with Impactor
