I was actually hoping to hear from the man. Not two guys who must have more money than common sense. According to this thread they've already sold 3000. So the run will be higher than that. And there is no way this figure warrants a $200 price tag out of a run of 3000-5000 figures. That is just price gouging. So continue. Just calling it as I see it.

 

If you want to be gouged or "support the artists", put your money where your mouth is and send direct donation money. For the rest of us, we'd like to purchase goods at reasonable prices, knowing profits are reasonable.

It's very reasonable to ask why prices haven't been reduced, when indications are that they should be.

 

While you do make a good point, it is nearly impossible to know where the "profits are reasonable" for most consumer goods.

Me? I'll plank down the money for Scoria because I feel he's worth it, even at a high production rate. On the other hand, I'm buying the comic coloured version to match my MP-8X, which is a limited run so the "high" price is more justifiable. It all basically comes down to what the figure is worth to you and what you're willing to spend.

 

Ohhh, my heat tis broken... . The whole "price issue" was covered and beaten to death many many months ago. If you don't like being "priced gouged" then simply don't purchase the item.... REALLY is it that hard? Not everyone can afford everything. Sucks, but it happens. FT's have stated that they have sold 3k+ for this figure already so that means once it's sold out at retailers that at the very least 2k people (have to factor in people buying doubles) don't think that $200 is too much.

The weirdest thing to me is the fact they are fighting over products that don't compete.scoria is a Dinobot, kronos is skyfire. When FT's skyfire is ready, kronos will only be available via ebay, private transactions, etc. no real competition. People who missed out on kronos can grab FT's.

This almost is like if capcom posted a bad blog about a mortal Kombat game released 6 months after street fighter xxiv 1/2, denouncing it.

With 4 predakings, two devastators, 2 reflectors, 234 ultra magnus, etc, I'm pretty sure we'll go along with two skyfires released 6 months+ apart.

As for not being professionals, if you take money for a good or service, you are a professional. Doesn't matter if you are girl scouts, a toy maker, or CEO of Walmart.

As for price gouging.... You have no right to complain if you willingly throw money for the item. Want 3p prices to drop, don't support them at retail. Your $$$ speaks far louder than a whine on a forum.

 

They can price it however they want it is a business to make money after all.

The more money they make the more they can produce in the future.

The price sucks, there's no way around it, but I do not feel that I'm paying more then I should, because, this is supposed to be an mp, he's bigger then any previous mps ( in this scale), it has diecast, and its a quality product, and has leds, etc etc. If it was made of cheap plastic and fragile I'd feel ripped off.
I've had issues with Hottoys figures before where they've been fragile and have felt very ripped off. You can hide a lot of issues on a transformer, its kind of hard when Iron Mans neck breaks off though.
The pricing is mostly the retailers fault though, if you're really paying $200+ thats your fault for supporting the big names that price gouge. This figure is getting marked up ALOT from what it actually costs them.
