They are talking about Skywarp in the MP-11 mold.

 

I agree. The best things MP-11 has going for it are the new head sculpt, thinner arms, and lack of hip kibble by adding the tailfins to the lower legs. The MP-03 feet are way better than MP-11's feet and it's fairly simple to do the tailfin mod on the original MP-03 mold.

 

The legs and feet look better, too. They may be less articulated, but aesthetically they are just better...imo. Something about the entire leg on the MP-03 mold is visually off.

You can try to pick them apart like this, of course, but the biggest difference is that MP-11 looks a lot more like the G1 characters as depicted in art and on the show. If that's not important to you than the figures aren't that different quality wise. But if it is...it's that simple.

Thanks for the comparison picture. Don't forget the launchers don't have to be removed, the head gimmick is a clever workaround, and the tail fins slide to add foot mass. I resisted for a long time but opened an acid storm and loved it.

 

Maybe i am doing something wrong, but when i search for MP Thundercracker on ebay i only can find 1 or maybe 2. when i search for toys r us exclusive i can only find 1 and when i search for Thundercracker only with the name, then only the g1 toys or the classics and movie versions pop up.
Maybe it has something to do with that i live in germany, but then again i have worldwide search on ebay activated.
Are there only so little MP Thundercrackers left or am i doing something wrong ( i am looking for the MP-11 version btw)?

I'd include myself in the "MP11 mold is better" camp. For anyone who also feels this way.... Just wait, it's gonna happen. Easy money for Takara and whole lotta fans doing this

MP-11 superior, MP-03 inferior.

 

MP-11 has the better bot mode, MP-03/06/07 have the better jet mode, IMHO.

 

I'm allowed to like both versions of the Seeker mold.

So I do  

 

Personally, I love having the Hasbro Skywarp in my MP collection because, with all of the faults in the MP-3 mold, it helps give Skywarp a little separation from the rest of the Seekers. I also imagine the "kibble" being a result of Skywarp's experimental teleporting equipment.

That being said, I still love the updated design of MP-11. If the Hasbro version of Sunstorm is MP-11 and comes w/ a cockpit canopy the right color, I MAY be willing to buy him to repaint into Skywarp. If I do that, I'd consider repainting the MP-3 version into Air Raid.


*Also just a quick question for those who hate the MP-11 feet.. Has anyone ever tried a "Toe swap"? I'd love to see a pic of MP-11 (with its improved heal) paired with MP-3's toe.. Just for curiosity sake.

 

The problem is that MP-3's toe is anchored to the front of the shin, and MP-11's is on the bottom. MP-3's "ankle tilt" is really just the transformation joint.

Swapping them would result in the toes having exactly the same range of motion, with the added bonus of being the wrong size.

 

I would recommend getting a Hasbro Skywarp 1st. Its the cheapest and easiest to obtain. Then get you a Hasbro Tcracker.

Then you can find out which mold you like best.

I can tell you right now..I prefer the old mold WAY more. That's not to say the new mold is bad..its VERY good...but the jet mode on the original is damn near flawless...and there are a few things about the new mold, I just really don't like.

So just keep an open mind. I have the Hasbro Starscream..and I have ZERO desire to replace it with a new mold one..unless its cheap at TRU this year later on. Even if I do get a new mold starscream, the old mold will be in front of him in Jet mode.

There you go..Thats really it..Im an aviation nut..so that's really why I prefer the old mold. Plus the new mold..GYAH!!...Pisses me off it does not lock together like my Starscream or skywarp.

As SQ7 said..I like em both..I don't have to pick a side..but if I could only have one mold to represent 3 seekers..I would pick the old mold. Just me.
