With Grimlock confirmed and Prowl + Sunstorm semi-confirmed, I am losing hope that we will get a Hasbro version of MP Sideswipe

 

Not sure I understand the logic.

 

Hasbro has never released 3 MPs in one year, with 3 somewhere in the system it would be quite a surprise to see Sideswipe announced. Of course, Prowl and Sunstorm are not officially confirmed, and there's no law that says they can't put out twice as many MPs as they have before, but past patterns and conventional wisdom would lead us to believe that Sideswipe may not be coming soon.

Not that it worries me either way, but so far the evidence (or lack thereof) points more toward "no sideswipe any time soon"

I agree. With mp grimlock announced this weekend, we have sdcc to see what the other mp will be. Naturally both will probably at retail after August

 

I kind of expect Grimlock to be in Toys-R-Us by May when the AOE toys hit, maybe June, and then we'll hear about more Masterpieces at SDCC and Botcon. Hasbro even said they weren't going to discuss their Masterpiece and Platinum Edition plans at Toy Fair. I was surprised to see Grimlock at all. I ain't sweatin'.

 

'Anytime soon' wasn't the comment. The statement was made about Sideswipe not being released at all because of the currently 'announced' releases and I still don't see how that is relevant.

 

for a time it was wondered if hasbro would have the lambo mold because of licensing issues, but there was never any follow-up on yes/no.

 

They are not sold out, the Toys R Us by my house had 9 of them on shelf last week.

So what exactly are you arguing? Are we being super pedantic? Yes, there's a non-zero chance that Hasbro will release Sideswipe sometime between now and the end of time. That's not exactly a brilliant deduction. Since most collectors don't live that long and most of them don't care to wait years to pick up something that is readily available now, many of them are trying to read the tea leaves and see if Sideswipe will be released any time soon, hence the discussion of this year's most likely releases. The reason they're doing that is because Sideswipe is still readily available but next year might be a different story. How is that not relevant? Are we limiting the discussion to whether Sideswipe will be released at all? Who cares? If we're just going to declare on principle that "there's always a chance" then that's all well and good, but not very useful.

No more useful than the doom and gloomers assuming the worst after one toy show. We haven't seen anything yet from Botcon or SDCC. Sideswipe will come, we just have to be patient.

Why does everything have to be an argument? It was simply my observation to the OP's deduction that I believed to be misguided. Nothing more. I already own every MP car released so I really have nothing vested in a Hasbro release. I just like logical discussions. And I like finding Hasbro MPs on TRU shelves.  

 

Anyone know when this will be hitting TRU stores?

 

None of the online retailers even have preorders up for these 2 yet.
