any of yours came double taped from factory? I just got mines and its double taped on one side. Looks like it been open and then re-taped.

 

That happens a lot with TakaraTomy product.

Of the Masterpiece figures I've gotten it's probably been more often then not double taped.

Sometimes they're not, sometimes they are. It's just the way things are.

All it means is that they inspected your item to make sure there were no issues and retaped it at the factory.

Takara sure got a lot of use from this mold.

- G1 Sideswipe
- G1 Red Alert
- G1 Tigertrack
- G2 Sideswipe

I have the MP G1 Sideswipe and Tigertrack. I have Red Alert on pre-order (2nd run), but I am not sure if I really want G2 Sideswipe. I love his weapons, and he looks great in black. It's very tempting!!! And I like this design over the Datsun/Nissan cars. Decisions, decisions...

 

Just got mine yesterday,it look very nice in black paint scheme, also like the set of weapons.

 

Opened mine today. Love it. Want more G2 MP's.

 

I wouldn't say it happens a lot or more often, I have every Takara MP made and I only have one that is double taped and that's Streak

Meh, the only G2 characters I ever wanted updated homage molds of were Optimus, Megatron, Jhiaxus and Sideswipe

 

Where the big ass gun come from? Beast mode

 

I found this at first too. What I found was that the hinge that collapses the upper body from car mode was a bit stiff on the final click - a little push was needed to get it all the way in, and then the chest locked in as well as my G1 MP Sideswipe.

 

Just got mine yesterday, last time I use the cheap shipping from HLJ. He was stiffer than my MP Sideswipe and Red Alert, but overall he is awesome, was thinking about switching out the faceplate but the it has grown on me.

 

I really think Optimus, Ramjet and Megatron are the only other standouts. Optimus got a bitchin' weapons platform mounted to his all-black trailer. Ramjet went black, purple and turquoise, and Megatron was (obvs) a giant green tank!

In the comics they all had over-the-top guns.



Ramjet (in G1 colors, here) had crazy (wire-fed?) arm-mounted twinguns:



And of course, Megatron got the Leno-Chin-Of-Awesomness:

 

Why wasn't Laser Prime used in the comics?

 

The entire comic run predated the Laser Prime figure. He was briefly reformatted into G2 Hero Prime at the very, very end of the comic.

 

There might be more repaint to come such as Clampdown & Deepcover for this Lambo mold.

There's no way this guy is being displayed with the other MP Autobots!! He's just too bad ass!! He'll go with the other MP Decepticon black repaints like he just turned to the Dark Side  

 

I've got a friend with the same issue on the shoulder. have you discovered a fix for it yet?

 

The only "fix" I have found for it is if I push (Squeeze) the shoulder section to the section it's attached to more. It's not a screw so I can't tighten it. If I could it would be fixed. When I press the part to the roof assembly more it fixes it only temporary. I would need a way to push that rivet so it joins to the back/roof section tighter. Again since it isn't simply a matter of screwing a screw tighter I have no idea how to make that section be tighter.
