Military involvement makes sense, because in no halfway-credible universe would the US military NOT stick it's nose in if there was a hint of a threat on US soil. And the military doesn't bang rocks together, they have tons of advanced weapons in real life. I've always hated how human weapons are just totally ineffective against the Transformers for no good reason.

At least it's not MECH, where they just shock a robot unconcious with zero effort because no reason. It's still a fight in the movies.

I actually had always wanted them to focus more on the NEST characters, like Lennox and Epps, and their interactions with the Autobots instead of following Sam's "normal life".

I've watched the trailer about 10 times so far. I've read half of the thread posts.

I grew up with G1, skipped everything else until the movies and TF: Prime.

For the movies, it looks great. New characters, fresh humans, Optimus being awesome and Grimlock. The masses will enjoy it, and hopefully it has some of the charm of the first one with Wahlberg "discovering" Optimus Prime.

I'm excited. I feel sorry for some people that take the time out of their day to put so much effort in to hating it. I hope you're channeling that hate in to becoming an animator, writer, director, actor, etc so that we get a "better" version in 10-15 years.

Until then, get some popcorn and enjoy the fact that you get to see Optimus "alive." Five year old me never thought I'd get to see that, and I'm thankful that it happened and continues with TF:AOE

I'm already sick of the whiners. ME ME ME!!! what about the movie I want?!?! It should be just like how I say it should be...

Jeeeeeeesh....just stop wasting your energy and go hate somewhere else.

99.9% of all these whiny bratty sounding "fans" that are typing "ooohhh ain't seeing that shit" WILL, IN FACT, BE THERE OPENING NIGHT WEARING AUTOBOT OR DECEPTICON SHIRTS.

you betcher ass I'm right. So stop...your not convincing anyone.

We should make a thread and record EVERYONE that says they aren't seeing it, so when it does come out we can easily point out who the hypocrites are.

Not sure what to think. On the plus side, it's nice to see some A) actual actors, B) actual actors who more than 6 people know/heard of (aka are legitimately famous), and C) actual actors with weight to their names that aren't just goofy glorified cameos. That alone lends a LOT of credibility that the previous 3 movies never had.

On the downside, it's another Michael Bay Transformers movie, so it's natural to be very skeptical of how this will actually turn out. He might have finally gotten something right (or at least close to right), but we won't know for sure until the summer. Also on the downside, personally speaking, I think this "new" Optimus looks absolutely ridiculous, all the city fight scenes remind me too much of the city battles in TF1 and TF3, and I'm convinced the only line New Chicky #3 says is "Dad!" considering we heard her say it 3 times *just* in that one 2.5 minute trailer. Hope that doesn't turn into the new "no no no no no no!" / "go go go go go go!" of this movie :)

Will likely still see it in the theater, but due to lesson learned 3 times over now, will be going in with extremely low expectations. I hope to like it, but am certainly not counting on it.

That last movie...was awful. And the second one was very good, but mostly because of one stand out performance.

I also think that Watchmen and The Dark Knight Returns are lauded more for the direction they took at the time they were released, rather than their overall quality.

Now kids, for and against the movie. It's important to remind you all of something.

I'm not sure I agree with everything here but I do agree on Prime's new design. It was like they said that turning into a truck is the only requirement to resembling Prime. Some early crits of movie designs where that they looked like a bunch of shattered metal. That may have been true, but this Prime design looks in no way like a transformable entity and more like an anime super robot.

I'm not hating on the movie though, I'm excited for it, but I haven't like the Prime design since it was first revealed and seeing it actually in the movie hasn't helped as much as I was hoping.

You didn't like that I didn't like the trailer...

That sounds like whine by default to me. But since this discussion is going nowhere but south, how about doing yourself a favor like spending more money on films you admittedly hate. Since by your deranged logic it's not whining as long as you give the movie you hate your hard earned cash.

huh, if I was younger I would say this looks awesome. Now, eh, it looks like a fun little waste of two hours. All I can hope for is it to be better than Revenge of the Fallen and Dark of the Moon the latter of which I thought was just as alright looking as this.

I didn't find this trailer to get me PUMPED and HYPED for AOE as much as the Super Bowl teaser trailer did.

I will say Cade is already a better protagonist than Sam already.

I just love how he just "accidentally" bought a Transformer.....gee like we hadn't seen that before. :lol

In fact I like the beginning with Cade and his garage, however once the government agents...it sort of kinda lost me.

Stanley Tucci is really arrogant...a lot like Movie 1 Simmons.

    Ratchet's going to die!

Optimus pimp-slapped the shiz out of Grimlock.

This movie can go either way honestly....

By rights, as Grimlock is 10 times the size of Prime, he'd have just stamped all over him. Still, looks good. I'm cautiously optimistic.

You'd have to be a ****** to mess up giant transforming dinosaur robots. Bay will no doubt try, but I'm hoping against all hope that he doesn't succeed. I am slightly concerned about the seemingly heavy human element again, plus the lack of bad guys but realise it's still early doors.

Please, let's have some capable bad guys. Galvatron is nearly invincible in the lore, let's keep it that way.

Wow so many people criticizing a movie, panning it, and absolutely tearing it to shreds before it is even out in the cinema yet. Yes it might be a let-down for some people, or it might be Bays best attempt yet with Transformers.

Who knows until the movie comes out and even then the people with negative pre-conceptions about the movie will never be happy with it even if it was better than the previous 3 all put together as there will always be something Bay fucked up.

I don't like the fact Bay is still in charge of Transformers, and yes the first three weren't the most faithful to the ethos or greatest movies ever, but they packed action and fun together. They had mistakes and continuity errors as well. They had some dorky cheesy and generally stupid bits. But hey the original G1 series had all these as well and more and we still loved it.

Then again we (well most of us) where children when G1 originally came out and we loved them then regardless and we still love them today despite the many problems with the original cartoon, even if mostly out of nostalgia and the coolness of robots to vehicles and back. As we grew older we become more critical of the finer details many children don't care about - and after all the primary target base of Transformers is and always will be kids who just want cool and fun.

For some reason the movies seem to entertain women well...

You know, I agree with this. Not saying this was a "bad" trailer, and I've watched it at least 20 times so far. It all looks really good so far, but you can tell they are holding a lot back. Which I have no problem with.

Out of curiousity.... why would Optimus need to "tame" Grimlock?

Could it be the possibility that Grimlock and the Dinobots are Decepticons or rogues who convert to the Autobot cause upon Optimus showing Grimlock who's boss, and thus worthy to lead? Just like how the cartoon and comics go (in regards to strength to lead).
