I've gotten that impression elsewhere, as well. If Wildman IS returning for #100 (as promised/threatened back when he left), it seems it's not for the entire issue.

So help me out here. What has been released so far in TPB? Do I purchase whats available now or wait for an ultimate hardcover set of #81-100?

Couldn't really get into this book. But I honestly wouldn't mind him taking Barber's place on RID especially since they're going back to earth..

I see ReGen One as an alternative timeline. I'm not a fan of the omission of the G2 story arch. Im reading vol.1 of the TPB so far. It's nice, but not great, IMHO.

Why? Barber is better at telling a self-contained story in individual issues than Furman is.

If writers from any company want or have to write for the trade, don't release individual issues. Only release the trade.

I've hated this guy's work since the early 90s. Hate how he so freely kills off characters just for that big event to draw people in, just like the death of Superman garbage tactic from DC- only its just what Furman does on a regular basis. Its his thing, aside from the insanely annoying accent and teeth.
I hated how he ended Beast wars, killing off beloved characters in pathetic ways only Michael bay can top. No shocker he is hyping the death toll in his last Regeneration comic. It really is just his whole thing. He blows.

It doesn't sound like you actually read the interview...

SE: How many Furman-style gory deaths can we expect to see in ReGen #100?

SF: Not as many as you might think. I’ve tried to not over-indulge myself and maybe confound expectations a little. It’s not a #75 in terms of the bodycount. At least not during the main action of the issue!!

That doesn't exactly sound like "hyping the death toll." Quite the opposite, actually.

Wow alot of criticism in this thread, are these books really bad? I had Vols 1-3 in my cart but hesitated to pull the trigger now.

I find it much more difficult to get behind his death toll than with G2, at least then it came with the mindset that comic characters never really died. Here you know these guys won't be coming back...

Still, I'm glad he's not going crazy with the deaths for this last issue.

Sad to say Mr. Furman has gone the way of Chris Clearmont post X-men #3 1991 (or whatever year that was). Ill just enjoy the stuff he did in Marvel U.K. Which to me is some of the best TF comics ever. Regeneration One just wasn't my cup of tea.

Furman was at his best when he answered to an Editor. His UK stuff was superb, ReGen has been somewhat lacklustre. Its had some good, solid moments, but inconsistent pacing and throwaway plotlines haven't helped it. Subsequently the final arc, which has been pretty damn good, feels rushed. Shame.

I think I'd prefer "Regeneration One: Coda". A series of short stories, expanding upon certain events that happened during Regeneration One.
