Well, with Bot Shots apparently dead (the only thing that sucked me back into TF other than DOTM Leader Jetfire 'cuz I collect SR-71 memorabilia), no reissue of Music Label Soundwave and no Masterpiece Blackout... looks my 2014 Buy list is just Leader Jetfire and the TF Hexbug Nanos.

 

Yeah they had no accessories, paint was crap, scale was appalling, and they couldn't pull off any signature poses. I know distribution isn't NECA's fault but that sucked too.

Really, that's what you need to get into these dinobot toys? To see them done in gray plastic?

I was sooo excited for Leader Generations Jetfire......And then they revealed the back of the toy....Which reveals that jetfire has a fake chest. What the fuck hasbro? This is a leader class. Typical Hasbro....ruining what excitement I get for innovation. Pass on all those ******ed simplified AOE figures. The ONLY figures I want that are coming out are:

Seriously losing faith in transformers. After seeing the AOE Leader Optishell Prime, I don't want to buy anything from Hasbro. people are actually paying 60$ for that piece of shit....people are going to pay 40-60$ for oversized dollar toys. That's just wrong.

I understand they have to/want to simplify things for younger kids and that things kinda apexed with Binaltech/Alts.

But yeah this panel cheating is probably right up there with kibble and shell formers for lame.

I can understand certain limitations. Nightbeat, Windcharger, Gears, Brawn, and quite a few more early TF's had chests that were unrelated to their vehicle form. They didn't try to sculpt headlights and windows into them. There was some DOTM or ROTF toy I was really digging, until I realized that his chest deco was basically the front end of his vehicle mode, even though that was part of his legs.
(EDIT: the bot in question is Movie Firetrap, I'd forgotten why I wanted him, he makes a good modern Brawn)

Cheating's really gotten more flagrant since then and I disapprove. (Prime Smokescreen, Movie Primes, etc.) If you want to make it simpler, look at Animated Jazz, or Cybertron Downshift simple but no cheating.

 

Skybyte looks almost perfect in Beast Mode and I dig leader class Jetfire's headsculpt

 

I don't understand why so many people have a fit about "cheating".. If both modes look cool, then why does it matter if the robot chest didn't come from parts of the actual car or jet or whatever? There's been "cheating" going on as far back as Powermaster Optimus Prime, and I thought he was an awesome toy back in the day.

In fact, since it was "cheating", I wish they had given Nightbeat a new "fake chest" that looks more "Nightbeat-y", but alas, he still looks cool.

 

Being offended gives them a sense of moral superiority.

As I see it, Generations Jetfire does not have a 'fake' chest. It is composed entirely out of the air intakes and a window on the underside of the plane (be it auxiliary cockpit, bomb sight, recon camera port, or what have you) that, and I can't seem to stress it enough, looks nothing like the top canopy of the jet mode.

I imagine one could say Jetfire is "supposed" to have the jet canopy on the chest, much like he's "supposed" to be either a Harmony Gold lawsuit or a flying cardboard box fort. Whatever guys - I'mma buy it.
