Personally, I'm not that bothered by the colorful dinobots in the AOE line, but I can see why others are not into them.
Just for fun I thought I do a couple recolors just to see what it might look like.

Yea, after all the news I remembered that TakaraTomy leaked listing a few months back with the product descriptions, and "Ivan", etc. are supposedly going to have more movie accurate paint on the Japanese versions. So you're probably not far off!

I too personally don't mind the the crazy colors either. But these looks nice too. I wonder if we will see any of these redecoed in classic dinobot colors

I'd definitely buy them if they were coloured similarly to these. Great stuff!

Will be curious to see what you do with the others. Especially Grimlock.

I'm digging that green toned Slug. Makes much more sense than bright purple.

I'm probably not going to do the others.
For the most part Grim looks fine to me, as does Strafe. I thought about doing Slash but his robot-mode in the pics looks mis-transformed to me.

It's to make the toys more visually striking, to capture the attention of potential buyers. Probably also to diversify the figures so as not to have a whole peg full of drably colored gray toys.

Like I said, I don't mind the colors, but I get why others do. But I also understand why they did it. Maybe they could have gone about it better, but...It's Hasbro. At the end of the day they're a business first.
