Hasbro has told us it takes about 2 years to get a toy from idea to shelf.

According to rumor this Jetfire was designed back around 2010 and was shelved because Hasbro was too timid to release something so close to the G1 toy. After HG sued Hasbro over the SDCC exclusive and that case was dismissed with prejudice Hasbro may well felt like it was the right time and safe to release this toy. Again this is just speculation based off a rumor but it does have a hint of plausible reality to it. Besides, with a back story for the design and release it will make this toy a bit more interesting for me when I own it.

Am I wrong for hoping for an MP-11 Ghost Starscream? Yeah, I know...

Believe that many toys can be in all sorts of development stages at different times. Some get released, some never get a prototype made, and some get revisited when the opportunity arrises. Before last August Hasbro probably wanted to release this Jetfire. They decided to "test the waters" with the SDCC Joe redeco first.

I would count it in months too. Wingblade is a good example of fast-tracking a toy.

Taking years may also refer to a whole toyline and not just one figure. Like a good chef who times a table of dishes so they are released to the patrons all at one time.

For me personally it does. But the main reason is just due to the serious lack of Decepticon characters we got, what there are like two Decepticons, Sky Byte and Jihaxus (both of which aren't really strictly Decepticons). Since the listing were revealed months ago I felt disappointed with the lack of Cons. But I was happy that at least a new Leader Megs was coming. I was just expressing my disappointment with him not being revealed as all.
Don't tell I am not entitled to do that as alot the posts on this site are made up of people complaining and expressing their disappointment :)

    lol pretty much :)

That's most definitely not true. Especially since there wasn't a Leader class or an Ultra class back then.

Grimlock looks identical to Takara's with a crown. Its different to Hasbro's original version which had different painted details.

Unless you're referring to the comic version, no. Takaras and Hasbros are identical, the new one has lighter colored plastic, and no biceps stripes

I wasn't talking about the paint apps, I was referring to the colour of the plastic being used. The grey has a milky yellow colour to it that looks quite unattractive IMO. Again, it's possible that it's simply a question of the lighting in the room but I'm pretty sure that it is a different colour.

Strangely enough, while the toy on display has the Takara paint apps, the picture on the box is of the original Hasbro release (silver on the legs, silver and black on the thights and red/white bars on the upper arms).

The New MP Grimlock has a weird green clear plastic, Im not on board with. I do n't have any room to gripe though. This does mean that an MP-11 Starscream could be a possibility though.

I seriously hope leader Megs is the stealth body plus I am not a fan of his tank body.

Look to Toyworld for that design in a larger scale

Loving this figure. Not as picky as others about the fake cockpit thing. I'm going to find a small guy to ride in there. Hasbro has made last year and this year so much fun to be a Transformers collector.

While that's very nice it's basically just a cybertronised version of his current earthy looking tank form and given that most of the generations classics have had earth modes I would guess the leader megatron toy will be much closer to the current rid design
