technically war for cybertron does, its part of the "aligned continuity" which the movies are a part of. oh oh! even WFC had "human like" faces

You asked 'why not'? I ask why so?

Like Ring3r said, the designs in the first 2 movies encapsulated the alien robot feel perfectly. While it borrowed on some human or Earthly elements - e.g. Bonecrusher inspired by a hockey player, Rampage a person on a pogo stick, Starscream a birdlike stance, Jetfire an old man, Mixmaster a bug with its wings open, Long Haul a large brute, etc - it was not overly overt, and struck a good balance.

Prime, Bumblebee, Rathet, Ironhide, Jazz all had humanoid-like faces, but they still struck a balance in looking somewhat alien. Look at my profile pic to the left, of Rampage. Sure, there's a basic, human face layout, but the angular features and appendages make it look distinct and alien.

It got worse from DoTM onwards, where we had an obese dwarf (Leadfoot), and AVP clones (the Dreads). The human-like designs are also prevalent in AoE thus far - with the silly looking (IMO) samurai character and more.

While in the first two films the designs were inspired by human elements, in the next two they are essentially full-blown copies of those elements. I only wished the could have been more creative. After all, the Transformers are an alien race.

Sure, they can turn themselves into whatever the hell they want, but with infinite creative possibilities, it seems a rather wasted opportunity not to push the envelope and explore more exotic concepts in keeping with the overall novelty. Instead, they simply go with the human-like features which appear like lazy parodies.

Movies aren't aligned. Prime, Rescue Bots, the High Moon games, Irvine novels, Covenant, etc. are aligned.

I don't mind the simple designs, but I do mind the prices.

All this bitching about the human faces is the dumbest shit ever. I literally want to tell all the whiners to STFU and have a coke and a smile. We put up with wack ass metal bit faces and when the old school fans complained about the faces, I heard a bunch of "they are aliens they're supposed to look different from humans", and a ton of people praising the s*** out of Michael Bay for the design changes. Now all the sudden you changed it back to the way transformers was originally with metal humanoid faces and everybody is complaining like he doesn't know what he's doing anymore. If anything I'd like to thank him for bringing back some element of the Transformers I used to know ...somewhat blocky designs with uniform and streamline faces that are actually recognizable if they were to talk. at first I couldn't understand why Bay has so little respect for Transformers fans, it's because there's a bunch of f****** idiots that whine about shit.

He made a style change and I for one love it. Especially because so many of these movie fans are now the ones b******* about how he changed the franchise and you can how see a lot of the old G1 fans felt.

The t-shirt design picture in the discussion below has Drift on the Con side of the shirt, so maybe he has a Decepticon insect looking face, and he's hiding it with a mask, now that he's with the Autobots. I remember reading this theory a month or so ago where someone was talking about Drift being a former Decepticon. Maybe that's why his face looks so different. But then he does have blue eyes. Hmmmm.

Assuming that Megatroptimus is speaking of First Edition AOE Prime, then yes, it IS a preview toy. Just like with TFP, the FEs came first, with the main line following a few months later.

One step? Even Bot Shots have two steps...! How do you simplify from Bot Shots?!

Grimlock looks pretty good. I honestly wasn't expecting that to be the real bot mode. Looks like a decent toy, though.

Grimlock is WAY to pricy. $80??? That is insane.

I've seen Nerf guns with more plastic/engineering/paint for $20.

This thing is going to be massive and loaded with as far as I can tell at least three different electronics based gimmicks, plus a ton of other action figures.

A giant dinosaur with half a pound of LED's and soundchips being sold at 80 bucks sounds pretty normal for a toy store to me.

It's not my thing and I won't be buying it, but by the description it's understandable why it's the type of toy that hits the 80 dollar bracket.
