Keep at it, if you dont want to spend money do what I've done.

I made my own box. Grabbed a larger box, cut holes, cut up an old bed sheet, and bought some lights. Youtube you will find everything you need. To this day I use a ghetto light box. :)  :)

I'm not saying my pics are anything special, Taking pics helps me enjoy my figures/money spent even more.
I spent about $6 on my box and it helped quite a lot, make a trip to the Dollar store. Others on here don't even use a box, their pics come out far greater than mine. :)

Ask the questions on here I'm sure everyone is more than happy to help you out! Otherwise YouTube/internet is your friend.

I've never been brave enough to post my photos in this thread before but I'm pretty pleased with how this shot turned out.

I resisted the urge to brighten the shot from RAW as I think the moodiness of the lighting is pretty effective as it is.

BoNKerS - mate HA Barricade is sore spot for me because I don't have one, argh. I only have TFTM07 deluxe. Great shot!!
And that little freak is Ejector - ROTF Main Line - TFW2005

Good man, we even forgot our wedding anniversary this year :stick: ....17 years and still going strong, heh.
Now get back to your toys! :D

That Ratchet vegicle shot is a beaut. I did like HA Sideswipe, I think the bar was really high for ROTF HA and people weren't too kind to him.

Yeah movie aesthetic is definitely not for everyone. I admit I was one of many who freaked out when initial character designs started to come out. I still don't like some, but many others are great action figures :)

If you bought Hasbro release of Spyshot, that is not an issue (not that it matters)

    um, selfie? Too 2013?

I am 100% with BoNKerS...toy photo is just another way of enjoying your collection. My lightbox is made of scrap wood
Also here's another thread for toy pics, check it out.

Mine's on a desk, but just about the same.

The only other thing I do for my shots is set my camera's exposure time to 2s or so... Seems to capture details a great deal better. *shrug*

Can't shoot anything for now tho... basement room is a mess full of winter items and a two boxes of PoL goods I've not taken out yet... =(

I found that they were cheaper than I thought they would be. Naturally it depends on how many TFs you have and whether you've got any other hobbies that suit this sort of thing (I really should break out my GW miniatures and see how my painting fairs in those conditions).

My exact feelings too :)  plus you get to learn more about photography and taking pictures to capture life memories!

My contributions (with a little help from gimp, without a lightbox, in front of my computer monitor displaying a gradient background, and with natural light behind me :) )

Figured I'd join in on the "here is my photo setup/movie figs". So here is my MESS of a setup lol. I am so limited on room but I do the best I can.

Here is my Movie 1 bee for my Movie display. I still love this figure even with his broken hand (lost it during a move somehow)

As other have said before, What I did was just ask people here for tips and ask for feedback when learning how to take photo's. The gang here are very helpful when it comes to this sort of thing. Practice is key and if you have a lot of fun taking photo's you'll figure it out in no time.

Photo taking is a great alternative for grown men with no kids to "play" with their toys (rather than setting up make believe toy forts)

Hm... that towel seems to diffuse the light source well enough... Might want to try it myself...

If you use conventional bulbs, yes. Need to use fluorescent lights... as they give off very little heat. Regardless, you'd not want to walk away and *keep* towels on them for long... the heat's far less, but it can still heat up over time.

Now that I think of it, you could probably use some Hangar Wire and fashion something that isn't so close to the light anyway... just for safety's sake.
