Even though I found Optimus and Soundwave at retail, it was such a nerve-racking experience that it wouldn't have been worth it... if not for the fact that they were basically half-price compared to importing. But from what they're pricing the US version of Prowl at, I will gladly just import the cars, since they're basically the same price with a tenth of the hassle.

I can live without Sunstorm. If I see it I'll get it, if not... ehh... no big loss, I already have the iGear version.

 

Long time lurker; thought I'd jump in for a quick question.
Was there a date given for Hasbro's MP Prowl? I was planning on picking up the Takara version if I see him at any upcoming conventions, but if he's gonna be released in the next few months I'll probably wait.

 

They haven't givin an exact date yet. If I was a gambling man though, I'd say late summer sometime..

as for sunstorm, I have an igear sunstorm I really like, but im hoping the Hasbro release mimics the takara paint because it looks like a whole new character to me and I could use it as a yellow seeker... im a seeker slut.

 

They'll keep repainting the Datsuns and lamborghinis. The Seekers really don't bug me because I don't bank on Hasbro to release any Mps. They're the pot luck market. If they ever release a figure I don't have already from Takara then lucky me, if not? Well it's not like Mps are an American staple. They're a one retail store exclusive that's distribution is a fucking joke. So I'm not missing anything.
I'll get them as shelf fillers. They've got three more to go by my count, but I'm not holding my breath. I'll get Takaras mp-11 Skywarp before I wait for the Hasbro, because maybe by that time they'll have started with the car repaints  
Hasbro never gets the molds first, that's why they do differant decos, so we have an excuse to buy it twice. In a perfect world you'd eliminate Hasbro and replace it with Takara Tomy globally with an actual presence, not a sprinkling of exclusives 1-2x a year. But we really don't have the market for that do we? Not when anything that comes out over $30 people wait to go on clearance.

 

Yup, I'm becoming a seeker slut too, although I literally do not have any more room for more seekers on my shelf, so if we do get another one, I'll finally have to drop another $200 to get a second shelf. Although I disagree on hasbro mimicking the TT paintjob. I don't think it'll happen because TT's Sunstorm has way more paint on it than I know Hasbro will allow, and they like to go nuts (see: Acid Storm). I'm really hoping it's way different too.

Regarding Hasbro's version Sunstorm, I'll be surprised if it looks any different than the first figure made above.

 

I speculate that it'll have a few more points of articulation.

Do you mean a SDCC exclusive? Because the nature of North American MPs (i.e. Already an exclusive - at TRU) probably means they won't be an exclusive anywhere else.

 

I think it'll look better if it's just solid orange and white or solid yellow and white. The gradient effect really doesn't do it for me.

 

The TRU exclusive is at the entertainment earth booth at sdcc.

 

They could designate the figure MP-11LBGT and name him Sparklewing- the FABULOUS Seeker. He decimates the Autobots...and makes his fellow Deceptions uncomfortable...with his special heat seeking nipple missiles.

 

So, is Masterpiece Wheeljack definitely not coming out until August?  

 

Yes, Late August if we're lucky. I don't know why anyone expected any earlier. Always give them 8 months between announcement and release. Minimum. Wheeljack is almost 9, and it's getting to the point where we might not even see Wheeljack, Bumblebee, and Ultra Magnus in the same year if they don't announce another one soon or really push to break the big gap.
