I noticed that Optibotimus disabled comments in his vid review of this toy. Was it a landslide of negativity, or some other reason that prompted him to put a stop to commentary?

ROTF leader and voyagers are the best Prime's to come out imo.

I'm holding out hope that the Generations AOE line will be better. I don't mind simple but this one goes too far.

I think this would be a perfect Prime for a non-CGI live action transformers

Just add an actor in a Prime suit with this kibble.

Honestly while I have no beef with this toy and I think it look interesting it's not a transformer in my eye. It's like if you had a truck, then you open up the truck to take out the Barbie/GI Joe figure out of it and than have the truck tab on her/his back as a backpack.

That's what this toy is, an action figure riding inside of a vehicle, not a vehicle that transforms into an action figure.

I mean come on his whole torso is just one big solid piece inside of the truck, his legs are also big already made solid pieces inside of the front of the truck NONE of his truck parts actually transform to make parts of the robot.

That's what transformers were all about. You have a vehicle mode, then the bits of the vehicle mode change and move around to MAKE a humanoid looking robot.

But here all the truck parts do are just sit on the back of the figure like an ugly looking kibble. They don't feature into the transformation AT ALL, there is no truck parts that make up the legs, that make up the arms, that make up the torso it's already all there you only need to fold up the truck parts on his back.

It's a good toy for kids, I kinda dig the look minus the backpack, but it's not a transformer to me. Not at all.

And the weird part about this? It's not Hasbro's fault. Because the Bay design and CGI team literally made a design that's so impossible that it's CAN'T be made into a toy that physically transforms.

Yeah sure they're going to cheat they way out of it in the movie with CGI magic but in the real world you just can't make a toy from a guy that goes from truck to robot yet has zero truck parts on his robot form without parts-forming or ending up with something like...this.

Thanks for the review. It was my thoughts exactly as I held the box in my hand yesterday. You are so right about the chrome. For me the chrome at the higher price point just kills it for me. I will wait for the non-chrome mass release.

woah, looks a whole bunch better!

I don't know if they've improved Chrome since Beast Wars, but, it doesn't last, even if you don't touch it.

Nail...head. Looks exactly like Halloween Ken doll. Just a mask over a doll. Chrome is there for a distraction. If you like it more power to you but you can't deny this is far from the robotic roots of TF. These are more like Costumeformers.

    I concur!

This figure may be called a transformer but it totally misses the point.

It’s catering to the lowest common denominator and it's an insult to kids and their intellect.

To be fair, I thought the exact same thing about the old movie Prime design until RoTF leader prime came along and pretty much nailed it.

But yeah, when I saw the first pic of the redesigned Prime for AoE, my first thought was that there was no way the all the new curves and sleekness were going to translate very well into a physical, transforming toy and boy, they really, really don't.

Gotta love people who talk down to others while trying to act superior and like they have sense themselves....it doesn't translate a message too well, nor does it in any way make your point when you belittle while trying to look smarter than everyone else. I do applaud the effort though. Kids aren't smarter? Parents must be stupid too because their little kid can't transform the ROTF Leader Class Prime....Amazing.

I don't like the movie designs, never have much, but the Prime design in the last 3 movies was halfway decent despite the cut your fingers off by touching them movie parts designs. And they don't translate too well into toys without a lot of engineering involved. I don't mind a tad simpler than ROTF Prime, but this thing is a Rescue Bot figure with articulation.

And a kid isn't stupid if they can't transform that ROTF Prime....to say so, is just asinine. Transforming a movie Transformer can take a little mechanical ability, and people aren't stupid if they don't have that ability.

I can transform my Leader Prime quite easily, although it does take a little time, and my 4 year old can transform his HA Bumblebee with a little time, and mainly because I made him learn by not doing it for him all the time. But I do not expect him to do it, nor do I expect him to be able to transform my Leader Prime, especially without breaking something.

I was done after DOTM deluxe Thundercracker and Ratchet....the rest were too small, stupid looking or just non interesting. ROTF / HFTD had the best to date in my opinion. With DOTM it seems they just gave up.

Really? I mean yeah the toy engineering is different but I could always see where what goes in this previous design. The upper arms obviously the nose of the truck, the chest windows are still there, the truck wheels are all visible in robot mode there is really a hell of a lot vehicle parts on him to be able to get the idea of what goes where and how.

But this thing? All of the truck parts he has are the two tiny red pieces on his chest that come from the nose of the truck. That's it. That's ALL of the obvious truck parts that he has.

I like the new design, it's a great mecha robot design. But it's not a good transformers design.

But even then personally as a pretty big "hater" of the movie aestetic I'd rather have a shitty transformer design that's at least s good robot design than...what we had up until now.

No such thing has been confirmed. There's an entirely different leader class figure that will be released as part of the generations line under the AOE banner.

I don't think you own an 07 Movie prime then. This one is WAAAAAAAAY simpler than 07 Movie prime.

Transformation doesn't matter but yeah the design just looks bad. I am going out on a limb as far as the transformation and saying that I bet part of the reason was also less parts, less assembly, less costs to produce. They went from one extreme to the other in that. To me the Leader class movie 1 prime was a bit of a tough transform (I think it was that one, with the articulated hands) but at the same time the night guard voyager prime was simple without being too simple and didn't sacrifice the look.

I imagine the Movie designs are the basis for how bad this looks. In the end it's how the kids will react. I wonder if the Bayverse wore out it's welcome among the general public though. I wouldn't mind a reboot with a different production team after 4 is done with it's rounds. After all, reboots are tf trademarks :)

I will say the chrome making a comeback is a good sign, hopefully, for sublines.

Agreed. Whilst ROTF Prime was a step up from 07 version, the latter still looked good next to the former.

07 Prime was a fairly involved transformation, this one is almost knock off level.

It could be possible that the Generations version restores some dignity to AOE Prime.

You do realize that some of these "fanboys" you're attempting to insult aren't exactly kids.....right?

G1 Prime's robot parts had pieces that actually transformed into parts that completed the truck form. I don't see any part of this Prime that does that!
