hey, if anyone still wants to argue it, there's a thread in the movie forum. Either way it's of little consequence.
Guys, Grimlock isn't even a T-Rex in the trailer. He's a dragon. The sooner you realize this, the sooner the fanrage can begin. Then you'll accept it, and eventually defend it tooth-and-nail to the "haters" who just wanted a robot T-Rex.
Shhh...they WANT to believe he's a T-Rex. Logic and observation means nothing here. Spare yourself the onslaught of grief.
He's not even a Carnotaurus. The fact Optimus is riding him in China says enough about what Michael Bay wanted Grimlock to be: A Chinese dragon, which he's going to have Grimlock be the fictional inspiration of, just like similar dumb ideas in his other three conspiracy disaster-porn movies guest-starring the Transformers.
Even if Grimlock was a T-Rex, the actual T-Rex would be too small for Optimus to ride on. Actual T-Rex's were about 40 feet long and 13 feet high at the hips. Prime himself is about 40 feet tall in robot mode, more or less. That means TF Grimlock must be far larger than a normal T-Rex. So it could also be a Carnotaurus or a variant of some sort.
I don't get the "inspiring chinese dragons" thing, because none of the dinobots we've seen so far even remotely resemble chinese dragons why can't the dinobots just be....dinosaurs (and one pterosaur) But I'm sure Bay cares as much about dinosaurs as he does about source material, so meh
Mikey doesn't know much outside of explosions. He didn't design the robots, other people did. For all we know he could have said, "Hey, put some horns on him so he will look cooler." and that was it. I can say for a fact that Grimlock is not a Mega-sore-ass because he doesn't seem to sit around much in the movie.
Nope. He gets taken prisoner you can see him upside down squirming on lockdowns ship after he is shot.
A wingless dragon, aren't all dragons supposed to have wings? On the plus side if it is dragon inspired might be a indication he will breath fire. Whatever grimlock is intended to be I think he looks great so far
Other than the chinese dragon I mean. I know they don't but they are basically a flying snake moving through the air like a regular snake uses its body to move on the ground. The body style for grimlock doesn't match that.
Dude, a carnotosaurus is absolutely tiny compared to a T-rex. Unless you're thinking of a Giganotosaurus, which would seem logical enough. Despite the horns being there, I wouldn't care either way.
Really? I saw that scene but failed to make that connection. Thats interesting. I watched ROTF and DOTM after the Superbowl and Shia's screams annoyed me the most. So yeah, I hear ya!
