Ha! This is what I said when the Dinos were first confirmed, that they'd be like the TFP Predacons, given that even if they came to Earth in prehistoric times the Dinobots wouldn't feel any need to disguise themselves and live among non-intelligent, non-civilsed life-forms. God, I'm getting good at this (not that any of it requires a huge stretch of the imagination lol)

I'm bound to have got something majorly wrong somewhere. I always do    

 

Yeah, totally wouldn't be surprised, given the plotholes/inconsistencies in the bayverse. But that would totally suck.

Aside from the likely possibility that that silver truck is Galvatron or Ultra Magnus, for a while I was thinking it would be very bay-like to have the T-Rex mode be Grimlock's "robot mode" and have the silver truck be his vehicle mode...

 

Actually it's very easy to determine facial structures. In modern animals which lack bone horns, there is universally an attachment point for the keratinous horns present on the skull. This can take the form of either a concave indentation or some what raised "nodules" , both of which serve as anchoring points for the horn/antler. these structures are very well preserved on fossil mammals and easily identified. dinosaurs on the other hand show little to no evidence of soft tissue horns. All dinosaur cranial ornamentation we've discovered so far, even when it has soft tissue extensions, has a bony core. Head crests, horns, even spikey nodules, they all have a solid bone core. Now Tyrannosaurus is one of the most studied dinosaurs of all time and we have a complete skeletal understanding of the animal. There is no evidence whatsoever for there being horns (in this case they'd be squamosoparietal horns) anywhere on T. rex. We do have evidence for it in several other groups like small Cceratosaurs, abelisaurs, some allosaurs etc. but while smaller relatives of the large tyrannosaurs were found to have crests, no such structures are known from the tyrannosaurs themselves.

I'm a palaeontologist...and I think the Grimlock design kinda rocks. Once you get past the surprise of the horns they add a certain cybertronian flare to the design. Actually, overall I much prefer the aesthetics in this trailer to the rest of the movies. Especially Optimus' face. Kudos to the designers.

Sure, the back of Grimlock's skull makes him look a bit dragony...but Ravage had one eye. I can deal.

 

The dinobots might tie in to chinese mythology. It could explain the dragonesque look of Grimlock. It could also explain the two heads of swoop/strafe, although I'm not so very familiar with chinese mythology, is there not some mention of a multi-headed dragonesque flying creature?

 

I want to see a Transformer based off of Medusa.

 

All the CGI work looks different and unfinished

But regardless, this trailer was awesome.

 

Ok so after seeing it again in the morning, freaking amazing trailer I must say:

Gunface seems to be confirmed as Lockdown from reading/seeing all the great posts earlier
The con slicing the car may be Motormaster, Megatron or even Galvatron
Grimlock is being ridden by new prime
Two headed flying monster is either a terrorcon or dinobot (swoop)
Bumblebee looks full of yellow in the scene where the explosion happens. All the other recent leaks show way more black on him. Looks like he and prime get new forms.

Any thoughts as to how Prime changes into his new form? Do you think he dies and is resurrected like in the cartoon?

It's definitely Lockdown you can argue the validity of it looking like it's made from a Lamborghini but it definitely has a Lamborghini symbol on it's chest. Plus it's collar matches up with that of the head that's confirmed to belong to Lockdown.

 

So, Grimlock has none of the gold we saw in other images.

 

As badass as that shot off Grimlock breaking through the wall is why do explosions randomly go off as he does it. It's like he shits fireworks or something. That's what I hate about these movies explosions even when they make no logical sense.

 

It's a Bay movie. Everything that gets destroyed needs to spark or have explosions lol.

But in fairness, it looks more like sparks from a metal beast hitting a very dense rock wall. You know, friction causing sparks? Very logical.

 

Yes he has it, it's just faint and or dirty. Look at the still of him breaking through the wall and you can see it on his nose.

They might add some color to the final copy like they did Sentinel Prime.

 

What I think is cool is these are more humanesque designs we've seen for the most part. Looking at Crosshairs you see a big smile on the guy, along with the Lockdown face thats been circulating. It's cool that you can see patina on Grimlock. That almost makes me think he been in something of a stasis mode or something for awhile and the locals adopted the dinosaur/dragon motif into their culture.
