I find it interesting there's no mention of 'Transformers' on the actual toys themselves, just a sticker that says 'Battle Masters'. No faction logos either. If it wasn't for that plain red 'Transformers' banner on the packaging I'd not even know they were a TF product.

Are we sure that 'Battle Masters' isn't just a non-TF product line and these few Transformers characters are just part of it rather than it being actual dedicated TF merchandise? Like if Pokémon started to include Beast Wars characters in their line. I mean the 'Battle Masters' logo and title on the box are far bigger than the 'Transformers' banner which suggests that's the primary focus of the product rather than TF. Could we see GI Joe Battle Masters next?

 

I think you might be on to something there. Though I think it's more likely we'll see Star Wars rather than GI Joe.

Its like commenting on how all the Bot Shots have the same silhouette, they're all "built" the same for the sake of the game.

 

if these happen to be designs for the new cartoon series.. count me out.

 

there is faction hard make out look at side of box above head autobot & decepticon logo, don't like to mouch if there refreanced there movie or g1 selfs it be better and some of us fans may buy them for those who like rockem sockem robots as upadate look to game

According to this thread by JamesBenjamin, the Autobots, Decepticons and 2-packs are the 3 different assortments for this line, so its probably more than just Urban Collector splitting them up.

it's only an issue because they don't look like the characters they claim to represent. The Optimus one has the same Bulkhead proportions as the rest, but it doesn't matter so much because you recognise him as Optimus first.

Anyway, how boring would botshots be if they all looked this anonymous and generic.

 

The only one that (barely) resembles their namesake is Bumblebee... and it's mostly due to the yellow hue.

Yeah, that's really the thing here. Botshots may have followed a base toy design, but there was still a visual variety in each one as a character.

These things really do all just look like Bulkhead dressed up in different armor types.

I'm beginning to wonder if this isn't Hasbro's take on Takaratomy's Battroborgs. Could be it's own thing and Hasbro is just throwing some TF's in there for recognition to help things get off the ground.

It's not nearly as sophisticated, but the same basic movements are there. It's just in a more rock'em sock'em robots style.
