I think Rattrap makes a really sensible second in command for Starscream. Morally ambiguous, selfish, sleazy, but not outright evil - they've got some things in common.

That's not to say that he's been perfectly written though.

It look good story wise. I did admit I got a laugh seeing how touchy feely Megatron and Bee became. It is like they are best buds now.

I am thinking about RatTrap is about right he does not want to kill everyone to get what he wants. I mean there are ton chars where they are grey, Swindle, Smokescreen, Jazz,

Not feeling this Bumblebee Megatron team up.

You've gotta suspend a lot of disbelief to buy this particular type of dialog between the two. It's forced if not just out of character for both parties. Even battered and beaten Megatron usually carries a brute dominance about himself. So this buddy cop cliche with Bee just feels completely lame. Plus Bee should hate Megatron's guts so any small talk between the 2 should be begrudgingly. And neither should feel that the other is on the same level.

    Take Monstrocity for instance...
I know some don't like that book but despite anything else THAT WAS MEGATRON!!!

It looks like they're watering down his usual demeanor to set up that presumed defection he'll take part of come April and I don't like it so far...

I think we've had enough fiction to show that Rattrap was someone less than the standard of maximal/autobot before the Axalons crash forced him into the Beast wars. Left to his own in RID and Animated we've seen he was a rather unsavory character.

On paper, the dynamic makes perfect sense. But what we've been shown is just confounding. What the hell is Rattrap trying to do? If he's trying to oust Starscream so someone more capable can step in his place; that'd be one thing. But we've been given no real hint to his motivations (not that there's been much room to explore them) so all we really know about the guy is that he likes making an ass out of whoever happens to be in the public spotlight at any given time.

Considering Monstrosity was Megatron at the start of the war and here we have Megatron not only following the war's official end, but also a humiliating defeat and witnessing a good part of his army completely abandon him. Obviously he's going to have a bit of a different demeanor in these two situations. Besides, both of them are well aware that the situation has escalated beyond their rivalry, and Megatron already showed his alliance by carrying Ironhide earlier. I'd say they're just not preoccupied in the heat of the moment and have just accepted "okay, he's my ally."

Wow. I'm actually defending a Barber-written portion of Dark Cybertron.

I know. The enemy of my enemy is my friend. Keep your friends close but your enemies closer. Bee is probably more relieved that Megatron in optic range so he won't pull fast one. Sort of remind me the movie Pirates of Silicon Valley in the sense Bill Gates and Steve Jobes relationship. Not all buddies are really friends some are really enemies. Don't get me wrong Bee and Megatron hate eachother but there is a bigger enemy that made an alliance that is Shockwave and who ever he really working for.

Megatron's pretty rude for a torso dependent on a punch buggie for transportation.

Megatron's in complete control of the situation. Bumblebee's lucky to be a talking wheelchair.

I see this as the scale of this disaster, and threat to his world, shocking Megs back into remembering what he used to be, rather than what he has become. And then this memory will lead him to despair at the movement he has created and switch sides.

The problem here is that Megatron has witnessed threats to Cybertron and its people far worse than this event (so far). He saw Thunderwing ravage Cybertron twice, not to mention the Chaos event. Unless some really fucking serious shit happens, then I don't see Megatron being "shocked" back into his old, idealist revolutionary self.
