You're one of the few "Bayverse fan boys" that is reasonable. What I believe Bellpeppers is saying is that the majority of the Bayverse lovers will scream bloody hell and crucify anyone who talks bad about those said movies and their robot's designs. He, like myself and others can't wait to see how they take to these new designs. I for one am glad we are finally getting some human esque faces. I hated the Ratchet and Ironhide "bovine" faces!!
Just looks too human to me. Much more human than past movie TF heads. Not saying I prefer balls of metal shards with lips. Just not a fan of this guy's look. Sorry my opinion confuses you.
Some people go on about how "Bayformers look too alien!" And then others say "They look too human!" I think these faces are DEFINATELY more akin to the G1 looks that many hoped for when the live action movies were first announced. Excited to see more!
I actually really like the look of this face. A Decepticon who looks human-like? Very cool. However, who says he's a 'Con? He might be neutral like he was in Animated, working for Autobots, Decepticons and... Dinobots?
It's even better now that you've pointed that out. This head design spits in the faces of the people who claimed that movie transformers couldn't look humanoid and recognizable, and I'm enjoying their rage. The next movie may suck like the previous three, but at least I might buy some of the toys and not feel bad about it later.
It all depends on his colors and material in cgi for me. Design looks okay, but if he turns out looking like just another dark metallic Decepticon he won't really stand that out. Hoping he will have a brighter face, and that he won't end up like a pinhead from Hellraiser...cautiously optimistic. edit: just saw the SD toy which has a white face. Hurray!
This style of face reminds me a lot of the old Don Fig style of movie-meets-G1 face that he tried on for the IDW books (which backfired horribly) While I tough it looked terrible on paper, I always kept saying that if done with CGI it would look awesome for live-action faces. Guess the design team tough so as well.
It's funny how the new movie designs are cleaner-looking than DonFig's ugly, movie-lite designs. Hell must've frozen over.
I wouldn't got that far. So far the faces seems to share the same design style (only moving parts are around the eyes and mouth, the rest are big unmoving metal plates) but Don Fig's designs are still more streamlined than the movie ones. For example: All of the cart parts are clearly still visible in bot mode (unlike the recent movie designs which lok like they don't have any car parts on them) but really the new movies design style seem to be following a mixture between this one and the Prime style. Having a lot of panels and smooth surfaces creating a more streamlined and humanoid looking silhouette but with tons of moving mechanical detailing in between those panels, giving them a lot more "armoured up" look. Really the movie designs have been going in right direction since DOTM with guys like Sentinel and Dino and it really looks like AOE will be the first TF movie that I can actually say "Boy I like all of the designs here!"
Lockdown's head design looks nice, I like how it looks creepy without looking demonic like past con designs.
