Correct, a second poll was created, for showing the 3 color schemes, with pictures from a fellow member that had 3 toys with the schemes that FT was proposing. This poll is more accurate with the pics, because not everyone knows the difference between Toon and Toy and Silver Toy, and thus some would have just vote for Toon blindly otherwise (myself included until recently that I found out what the differences were). Very interesting that actual toys of each scheme actually existed!!! Anyways, the poles show it's almost a split between Toon and Toy.

Here is the Poll that was created for this purpose:

yeah... ive been contemplating that as well... its a shame that I cant make a simple decison or control myself... not a good combo, especially this year with so many outstanding projects

WOW. that is kinda awesome. so that means 3 different molds as the 3 main releases. each gets a repaint, one gets 2 repaints, or is it the 2 dinos each have 2 repaints each? I can't think of a repaint option for skyfire.

scoria = toon, toy, and is there an mp-08x matching version??
    "not skyfire" = toon
"not swoop" = toon (blue/diaclone), toy (red), and ??

personally i think (and sorry for those owning the 08x) you don't NEED 3 decos of each dino.

my soul is happy. my wallet is crying for its future slimness. haha.

btw good luck to you. 7 releases is no joke! has takara even put out 7 MP releases in one year with at least 3 different new molds?

With 3 Main Releases, and 4 Repaints, we have the following (NOT in order):

    1) FT-Slag Standard Toon Version
    2) FT-Slag Standard Toy Version
    3) FT-Slag Special Toy Version

    4) FT-Swoop Standard Toon Version
    5) FT-Swoop Standard Toy Version
    6) FT-Swoop Special Toy Version

    7) FT-Skyfire

So that is 7 in total. Wow, that is a lot of releases for 1 year, if they can pull it off!!!

I have a feeling that the Standard and Special Toy version may potentially be produced at the same (or similar) time(s), and that they may share many parts, thus making it easier. Also, I am guessing they will gauge the interest for each version with pre-orders, to see how much (or percentage wise) of each to produce. This is just a guess though, and nothing more.

The toy and toon versions already will share many parts. Again, only thing diff. about those 2 are the colours for head, horns, thighs....everything else is pretty much the same. Unless FT goes with a translucent alt head for toy and coloured for toon, but still, there are only a handful of unique coloured bits.

And none of these parts would require painting (maybe the head, but here's hoping FT will incorporate switching eye colours).

I'd imagine the designs for slag, swoop and jetfire are done, now just to build the prototypes.

    Ahh ok.

If there is a release to match MP08X then that poll would suggest to not bother. Considering it's ridiculous price tag I would imagine not alot of ppl would have it either.

It's toon all the way for me. It's what I was raised on, not having had the benefit of actually owning any of the Dinobot toys as a kid.

    soundwave was a new mold
mp-10b was an existing mold from 2011
mp-15/16....there are 3 molds here (if you count buzzsaw) but honestly these are more like accessories.
mp 17-19 is all mold sharing with minor retools

so in my opinion that is 2 new molds with 3 nice accessories (the engineering involved is near trivial compared to a full figure except maybe ravage)...

technically you are correct though. :)

I love this post. Reasoned and informed, well balanced.

I think there is passion in here as theres so many that had different 'Slags' ( ;)  ) growing up - I for one had the toy, but as far as MP goes I want toon accuracy. It wouldn't be a deal breaker for me if it was just released in toy deco - I'm grateful they are taking on this mould and filling the dino sized hole in the MP line.

agreed - that was the only decision that came easy... i.e. I have no interest in MP08X versions... but that still leaves me in for 1000K worth of transformers... (just hit by wave of nausea)

I think there's something like £1,300 worth of stuff I'm looking at this year, if not more, unless Warbo turns out to be a dud but can't wait to see this thing in colour at the end of the month.

I actually think the engineering in those cassettes were remarkable given the small size. That's even harder to do.....man, remember seeing those built-in cannons and spy camera on Lazerbeak for the first time, beauty. Then I look at KFC's cassettes and those don't impress me at all.

The dinobots IMO are one of those TFs that look really great displayed in either mode, so I can easily buy 2 of each figure. The tricky part is finding a way to display all 5 on a detolf shelf.

So I finally jumped on Quakewave...if Scoria will be anything near this Figure...holy moly, my Expectations had been high, but now I just don't know what to expect. Scoria will be perfect from the looks and Design itself but now it seems like the Engineering will be near perfection...

Honestly, I think Even Takara itself can't deliver us a better Version of Slag. It is impossible!

I think the Black Friday sale was $177... The current price is pretty decent, but I think acestoystore comes in cheaper at $192 shipped. Chimungmung might come in a few bucks cheaper than that even.
