Ah remember last years Nintendo Direct (January 2013)?
Awesome sauce because Wii U was new, vibrant, brimming with potential, E3 was gonna blow our minds and X was announced.
    Now....

I'm holding out for this month's Nintendo Direct. Something tells me it'll be just as good as last January.

Nintendo UK fucked up for an hour yesterday reducing the price of digital games on their website by a lot. I got a digital code for Pikmin 3 for £8.95.

I was never going to buy Pikmin but I couldn't pass it up at that price. So now within less than a month I have 4 disc based games and 3 digital titles.

Iwata has to go. I've never liked his 'operation' of things. Do I like him? Sure. He's humorous. Is he a good representative for the company? Sure.

Also, Reggie for Global President plz. Reginator knows what we want.

Yeah sure, let's fire the guy who made the GBA SP, DS, Wii, and 3Ds super successful; the same guy guy who helped facilitate partnering with Retro Studios; the same guy who helped make sure Japanese exclusives (Fire Emblem, etc) made it overseas; the same guy who still believed that RPGs do well on Nintendo, which directly led to the buying of Monolith Soft, and the creation of Xenoblade, and it's soon to be successor, "X" (that mandate also helped influence The Last Story being made on Wii); the same guy who oversaw the revival of dead IP like Kid Icarus, Excite Racing, Punch-Out, and co-created Smash. Oh yeah, he has to go.

I'm just as disappointed with how things turned out, but come on--even Yamauchi fucked up big-time during his run: lost Rare IP and vital 3rd party support; Nintendo became a joke under his watch; and of course, Virtual Boy.

I'm terrified as to what "new business model" means; will just have to see where things go from here, we're officially in panic-mode.

Nintendo just needs to rethink it home console strategy. They hold their Gunpei Yokoi strategy for to long. From what I understand Nintendo is to stubborn to ask and see what 3rd parties like. They make their console and then it is do it our way or get out and third parties don't like that. Nintendo's biggest hit in the eyes of consumers was the wii. Yes it sold well but to main audience of video game players it was to weak with graphics that were slightly better then the GameCube, no hd and motion controls that grew boring fast. The console the wii should have been from the start was the wii u in power. Nintendo thinks that power doesn't matter but I feel like today it more of survival of the fittest. This is why Sony and Microsoft do so well. It like a car if you have money to easily afford a corvette you are not going to buy a cheap cruze.

There's no reason to BE in panic mode, they've probs just gone "shit, we need games that use this consoles sting points and we need them now". Hopfully this means they'll cut out the holding back and show us what we're going to be getting over the next year with teasers for the year after.

Um... they haven't been holding back. They forced DK:TF back to Febuary because they pretty much released everything they had for the Holidays.

Nintendo are secretive as heck with this stuff, I'm more than sure their are games coming we know nothing about.
Anyways, I've had a drink so i don't think I made my point (sorry), I'm saying I'm hoping this is going to be the kick up the arse they need. Too many IP's are being left to collect dust, we've had rumours of new metroid, people want new Star Fox, etc, at least mention them or hint at them coming. Ramp up the eShop stuff, stop slowly trickling things out. America don't even have Mario 3 or Link to the Past yet, theres no reason for them to not be there!

I love nintendo, but I'd be lying if I didn't admit they make me scratch my head once a day.

They need to start doing HD collections of GC games. They need to stop relying solely on nostalgia. They need to start getting third party exclusives. Oh, and they need to stop catering to children. Bring out a new Fatal Frame on the Wii U. Imagine being able to use the gamepad as your camera by holding it up to the screen.

Well something has to be done given that the Wii U is not selling well. Unlike Microsoft and Sony making video games is Nintendo's main business.

If they do not want to fire him then he has to come up with a new strategy to get Nintendo back on track. The interest of the public changes all the time and its up to companies to adapt to them. The public and third party manufactures for the most part are not interested in the Wii U. Nintendo has to do something to get them interested. Given their resources Nintendo has time to figure something out but they have to make a change somewhere. What that change is I do not know. it could mean sticking with the Wii U, it could mean creating a new system more like PS4 and Xbox One. Maybe that is what the public wants.

I wouldn't be in a panic though, all companies go through this at some point in their history. Nintendo isn't going to be doing anything drastic given their resources. Besides not everything a company makes will be a success. Apple, even Google has made products that have been clunkers. They just learn their lessons and develop something else. Nintendo has always been willing to try new things so I wouldn't give up on them just yet.

Scapegoats don't deal with the problem at hand. The whole of upper management needs a shakeup, and Nintendo of America need a new COO, someone new from outside of the company.
