A lot of us are wishing for something similar to "Marlboor Wheeljack", I can see, but we have to know that it's going to be a RADICAL departure from the original racing car's (and toy's) deco - We'll be lucky if it uses prominent red, and has black writing and is white, and it certainly won't have ANY words on it close to Marlboro or Marlboor. But, the chances of getting that different head and being a 'con (or other malevolent partymember) is exciting!

Yeah, fair enough, but I was thinking more along the lines of actual G1 characters. Though, like Tigertracks they may duplicate all the e-hobby recolors. I'm glad you did bring up the police version as Sunstreaker because that would be absolutely amazing.

Not really. Apparently, nowadays in wealthy provinces or countries, public services MAY use some fairly expensive hot cars, but I don't think any city, county, state, or country ever really used a Lamborghini for a service vehicle. Maybe the Vatican city-state?
Can ANYONE confirm or deny this, definitively?

Me, neither. Loved 'em in the Marvel comics and still love the brief appearance of Ratchet's in that one G1 episode, but as someone else pointed out, I'd hate for him to always have to have it nearby in order to convert him.
It's a really distinct, amusing, alien-looking thing with the Diaclone and G1 figure, but it just doesn't seem Masterpiece to me.

If MP Grimlock is any indication, we could get a comic-decoed wheeljack as one of MP-20's repaints.

Anyone else wonder if his front wheels become hidden like in the G1 cartoon; it's hard to tell ifmthe prototype does this...

    Oh, gods no!!

I think I want an exclusive Yomtov-Mistake [comic] Wheeljack like I want a Muddy-Magenta [comic] Soundwave!

    The horror....

Why would you bring that up?

Looks like the front tires are probably where the "calves" are on human beings, hidden by a swing panel. The rear wheels? I have no idea.

Hope there are no wheels visible in 'bot mode (obviously).

They would have to make up new characters for the color schemes that have not appeared in Transformers, or else assign the toy to another character. Its really the only thing they can do to get more reuses out of the mold if the character wasn't repainted into anyone else during Transformers.

I would have red Sunstreaker be Rod (Drop-Test - Transformers Wiki) and police Sunstreaker be characterised as Mach Alert - the Car Robots character whose toy was later repainted into Sunstreaker (even though Sunstreaker doesn't look like Mach Alert, its just for the purposes of giving the Diaclone toy a character).

Downright arcane and esoteric, right there!
Wow, you're archivist skills are impressive. I think those are better ideas if TT ever reissued Sunstreaker and had eHobby exclusives (dream on!). But, then again, what else could they possibly do for the MP Sunstreaker repainted exclusives (assuming we get MP Sunstreaker....)?
    Good work.

Like that? Red, white and blue, exactly as they appear in the above image.

If you're going for the cigarettes-are-bad angle, you are aware of Mirage's roots, yes?

Equipe Ligier - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Gitanes - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Aside from Marlboro being more famous in the US (no idea what kind of presence either Marlboro or Gitanes has in Japan), I'm not sure what the difference is. I've seen many posts over the years saying Marlboor would never fly, but none saying the same about Mirage.

Edit: If your post was just about licensing, yeah, skirting around it would involve a wiiiiide path. But the same could be said for Jazz or Mirage.

I don't doubt that. Jazz's Martini will be changed further from the G1 toy (martini) to something horrible like Meister. The stripes probably won't look much like the original patterns and widths on the real car.

Mirage's G1 Citanes (which, I think translates roughly to Satan in Italian) will shift even further to gods-know-what or they will distort Ligier into some other close word instead. From Smokescreen, we can assume they're going to ditch or replace ELF and Goodyear, also.

It wasn't only the smoking reference, which I think is wrong-headed - even in Japan, these are probably marketed to older collectors - it's that Takara-Tomy apparently would have to pay for the sponsors (I don't understand racing teams and companies not wanting free advertising, or paying money to have their names plastered on cars), and that's not something they're willing or able to do.

But, cigarette companies (in North America, anyway) have been scrambling to get their names off of anything that might be liked, enjoyed, or looked at by anyone under 21. Blame the lawyers (again).

Thanks. Just imagine the comic color scheme placed onto the cartoon model.
