I don't think you have the slightest clue what I was refering to. He was refering to old West and Native Americans, but called them "American Indians" which is not what they were. They were the native Americans. You know, the people who lived in America before the settlers came?

HAS anyone ever complained about that? TFCC isn't ALLOWED to make new moulds.

This is the Transformers fanbase. Pretty sure the answer is "yes".

That said, I can't see this selling out myself; I think it'll do well but not sell through. Last time there was a full sellout was Animated, if memory serves.

 

Any interest I had is now officially zero.

I was actually kinda hoping that since we had G2 and Machine Wars that someday, somehow, someone would get around to doing Diaclone besides the KO makers.

 

Yes, I have listened to TF podcasts where the host cover the Botcon mold announcements in the news, and then complain that the toys are all just "repaints", as if they expected new molds.

They were quite serious, and seemingly clueless that all convention exclusives are repaints.

 

Thing is, Botcon keeps doing sets that are merely "nice" or "fun" or "aloof" and not, like, amazing. Which wouldn't be a problem except for the high cost and difficulty accociated with GETTING these sets for most people.

A lot of people won't dump $400 for "nice" and "aloof."

That is... that is something else.

 

It would take some incredibly clever reuse of classics or trilogy or even movie toys to get me interested in this.

Not really interested in this so far, but yes: good idea, especially if it ties into the Prime Thundertron/Star Seekers.

 

I was actually hoping for a Diaclone set made out of Classics moulds.

 

The problem is though that they really can't win, can they? The '07 set was pretty legitimately amazing and it caused massive fan backlash for releasing characters that should have been available at retail. Botcon really doesn't have much alternative than to go after niche themes or create new characters.

 

Color me interested, though I was hoping for Diaclone.

I doubt this would ever happen, but I'd like it if Hasbro was more involved when FunPub would discuss the background behind the box set theme during that one panel that usually goes over stuff like that. It'd be interesting to hear FunPub discuss (even if only generally) their other ideas for sets and Hasbro chime in to certify that yes, certain things were denied for whatever reasons. We could get a better idea of what FunPub would like to do and what they realistically can do, without it sounding like FunPub conveniently blaming someone else for why they couldn't do something "cool" that the fans would've been into.

There are a couple, yes, though not much. There's Gul/Glu, the bird/blade weapon that came with Starscream. One of the Dark Matter Calibre microns is a bird. That's it though.

There's also Hades (Megatron Darkness' giant scythe weapon/wings), which hasn't been reused by Takara at all outside of a Lucky Draw...but it's also huge and a bat.

 

This an unexpected surprise. This has my interest.  

 

Cannonball out of first edition Prime Bulkhead with a new headsculpt. That would be awesome! Also, doing something with Terrorcon Cliffjumper would be rad! They can even have an optional eyepatch for him available at the club store!

 

People have certainly complained about "reusing moulds". It's only a few people who just don't get it.

 

I got it. It's set after the Machine Wars comic, where Cybertron is rebuilding, and it's invaded by 1 Primax continuity version of Cannonball and his pirate crew! That way it's G2, Machine Wars and Space Pirates!

Of course Botcon 2015 can still be SG Ninjas. The SG ninjas are an incredibly loud and non-lethal clan who can never seem to hide.

 

ehhh..... Hindsight being 20/20 and all, It would be interesting to see how TF would have panned out without Beast Wars. I remember those days and when Beast wars started it was "Just another TF line....and not a very interesting one at that" it was really the series that got it moving. and the toys improved after that, Without it? well we don't live in that world so we'll never truly know.

 

I thought it was a crap series I couldn't stand to even watch. But i am old school. But surely I am not alone.
