    :)

I hear ya man, I hear ya...

Well, others such as Sy-Rein below have already answered this, more or less:

I mean, I prefer MP-11 too, of course, but calling the earlier seekers "awful" just makes you come across as a raving fanboy (which I know you're not).

Anyway... So guess what I did today? Finally purchased Quakewave. I've been on the fence for a while now, but this news finally convinced me. I guess I'm just a LITTLE less convinced that a Takara one will be better, now. I'm not hating on Kobayashi here, just... well, like I said, I've been thinking about getting one for a while now, anyway. Plus I had some cash in my Paypal account.

    Yeah.

Look I'm not going "deth of teh line" or anything here, but I admit it was a deciding factor. I'm still looking forward to his designs. :)

All I have to say is,
If the new masterpieces dont fit with the current ones I'm going to stop trying to collect masterpiece transformers.

    Why is it that every time a series starts to get popular takara and hasbro go;

"Hey this series is really going good, let's change it before any one gets a real good looking collection going".

    Look at classics for example.

When I look at my collection I want it to look like it all fits together. So far I cant say that takara or hasbro has ever given this to us.

I have a complete g1 collection. If the mp line changes again. Consider my collecting over.

I'm confident Kobayashi knows how popular Hasui is. With that in mind, I'm also confident the next MP Kobayashi does will be his best figure thus far. Because it has to be.

And let's face it: if it's one of the cars, you KNOW the alt. mode's gonna be fantastic!

    Have fun, all!

Well IF he goes after Cliffjumper OR Jazz, then yeah , he's got quite the bar to jump over. Though if Takara makes him go after , Ironhide , Ratchet , Trailbreaker or Hoist, then he'd probably be better off since there's really nothing to date out right now in the line to really compare them too. So essentially , he'd be setting his own bar. ( which I really hope is the route they take ). But hey, chances are , im going to like whatever next MP's come out. It's all I really have left.

I thought Kobayashi over did Rodimus but maybe this time around his designs will have a simpler transformation akin to what Hasui has brought onboard. Maybe Hasui is changing roles and becoming the mainline designer for 2015.

Since Kobayashi designed Grimlock, it would be cool to see new MP DINOBOTS from him, a Megs V2 and Galvatron. Wouldn't hurt if he made an in scale Hot Rod that was simpler yet could upgrade with his trailer parts to become Rodimus.

Honestly with Star Saber in the works and Kobayashi returning the first thing I thought was a return to bigger MP's. Plus I think Kobayashi designed Armada Prime, it would be cool if he made an MP version, plus if he did design that Prime, who better to design an MP version?

Well, just to clarify, and for sake of keeping proper context, my dislike of the MP-03/06/07 mold has nothing to do with MP-11. I may have made it sound that way, but the truth is that I simply never liked the original MP Seeker mold to begin with, so in that sense, yeah, I do personally think it's awful. Yeah, I bought it 3 times over since that's all we had to choose from, but I'm on record here going back years saying how I actually thought (and still do think) the Classics Seeker design was/is better. But thankfully MP-11 eventually did make up for everything.

But yeah, I main point was that - outside of that mold and the lazy MP-02 repaint - I see no point in comparing the new with the old since, really, MP-01 thru 09 was a completely different line than what we're now seeing with MP-10 onward. I'll always appreciate MP-01, 05 & 08 for what they were and when they were.

Well I hope he tackles your namesake and Galvatron, but it he has to do more car bots I want Hound and Tracks.

Other MP's I want are Perceptor and Punch-Counter Punch.

The great thing about G1 is there are so many directions to go. So many distinct characters, subgroups, and styles. I have a feeling after Magnus this line is going to get even more interesting.

Well, to be fair, I agree. I don't really care for the MP seekers- I expect more than a good plane mode and the bot modes are just not worthy of MPs, IMO. I disagree, however, that MP11 made up for it. It's better, but still not up to snuff. Classics design is smoother and closer to the 'toon. It doesn't take a raving fanboy to see the issues with the MP seeker bot modes.

Correct. While MP-11 is good enough to satisfy me, it is one of the clunkier MP 'bot modes, especially at that class size. No neck, no waist swivel, but it's the legs and hip proportions that look especially off target. I can't believe the chest and torso don't lock, either. For all the hate Rodimus gets for being floppy, this guy's not much better.

Not complaining, just saying I understand the criticism.

YES. Insecticons! I think these would be an absolutely perfect first project for him as a return to the line.

    1) We need more Cons! Even better that they're s1 & 2 Cons to fit in with the vast majority of the rest of the line.

    2) They'd be affordable. They should be a head or two shorter than the car-bots and be priced accordingly.

    3) They should be relatively easy to design. Their G1 toys and animation models were pretty darn close and looked great in both modes. Unlike Rodimus and Megatron, they're not overly ambitious. High chance of success for Kobayashi coming out of the gate.

In all fairness, MP-11 is a seven year-old mold. It has simply started to show its age. I still think that the pre-Kawamori prototype looks pretty solid for a seven yea-old design. As for his proportions, I honestly don't find them to be that terrible. MP-10 suffers from a few odd proportions of his own but doesn't seem to take the same criticism for it.

Realistically, the newer MP releases (post MP-11) are noticeably better but I don't think the earlier releases are the monstrosities that some people are making them out to be. I still find that even most of the earlier MP releases trump most non-MP figures by leaps and bounds despite their age.

Come on man.....why the hell would they change the vision when it is selling so well?

All you knee jerkers. Listen. Ready? Good. Take a step back, engage brain, think about things for a second. The line is selling out fast, TT have a cash cow here. Do you really think things will change that drastically which would negatively effect sales? Really?

    I'm with this guy.....and I think they'll all scale with MP10-MP22 magically.

So you don't think changing the designer that made the line as popular as it is will not hurt sales? Have you engaged with your brain at all lately?

We're all certain the scaling won't change, but the aesthetics will. No amount of project management, as other posts have suggested, could dictate at a microlevel similar design approaches to figures. To be clear, Kobayashi's designs are not going to look like Hasui's. If you're not bothered by that, then you haven't been paying attention.

This change might work out if he stays away from the S1 cast that Hasui has focused on, but there are no guarantees. The line is pretty much soured if he tackles the next mirage or ironhide. People will be screaming for Hasui to come back and asking for these figures to be redone.

I see no reason to be more excited due to this change, unless you're in total denial about reality.
