Even though Megs looks like a ******ed 3D Picasso creation, it is way better than Ironhide/Ratchet. Those are the WORST. Maybe someone can start a poll if it has not been done already?

Three pages and nobody mentions the Autorollers? Or the fact that the second wave Targetmasters are basically pictures of robots/Nebulons on the bottom of guns? I am disappoint.

i gotta go with the second wave targetmaster guns. 25 years later it still looks stupidly ridiculous and cheapass to have them mounted on Spinster and Needenose in vehicle modes and it's just a dude looking down from the wings.

the firecons were awful robots; i never got any as a kid and now as an adult i realize why.

the monstructor robots are also horribly cheap, especially by gestalt standards, and one reason i abandoned the line.

the battlechargers were crap robot modes but still fun with their bazooka guns and car modes.

Grandslam and Raindance should also be mentioned as they're not bots, they're vehicle/drones. they're fun, but they're not individual bots.

I must disagree on Slamdance. They're tiny cassettes - I think the jet and tank are pretty decent all things considered. Yeah, there's something blocky and off about them when held against the timelessness of the other cassettes as a whole.. but worst? I don't think so.

After some consideration, I think I'll have to go with Wheelie.

I'm going to have to go with the heresy option of Megatron - Massive head, puny body.

(But I would say that most Megatrons don't look that great, and even MP Megatron doesn't capture the cartoon well enough for me)

There may well be worse, but the crime is doubled since he's such an iconic/key character.

Rodimus Prime. You can forgive designs that are built around a gimmick for being ugly bricks, you can forgive minibots for being weak because of pricepoint, you can forgive bots designed for other lines for looking like monsters or piloted mech, but Rodimus has no such excuse. He was the first original Autobot leader toy in the line and he was abysmal.

His transformation is basically Ironhide with a head and was considerably less complex than his casemate Wreck-gar, heck, less than Hotrod's who cost less and looked better in every mode to boot. Rodimus' face looked so tired and old, older than Kup in fact, and wasn't the face of a bold new leader, more the face of someone who'd spent the night doing their taxes, but that's okay, it only takes up half of the front of his eraser shaped head anyway. On top of that, he was made to be ridiculously skinny in a less than stellar attempt at making him look like an early version of the movie model, with most of his mass going to make an equally poor trailer. Even perched on that, he was dwarfed by his Decepticon counterpart who was based on an equally flawed design but still looked kind of neat.

    Both Duocons.

If they were slightly larger and had blocky legs/feet, and actual arms they wouldn't have been so bad.

Battlechargers...the gimmick hindered them. At least the Jumpstarters have arms and legs.

As many have mentioned, Ironhide/Ratchett sucked. One that always disappointed me was Brawn. He was one of my favorite characters but his stumpy claw arms and stupid face always bothered me.

Ironhide and Ratchet were so disappointing as a kid. They still don't look that great as an adult.

True on Brawn, he's one of my favorites too. At least he's got arms and legs.

That "stupid face" is like his face armor...like Optimus in the Bay movies and Prime.

    Dreamwave kinda made it official.

I agree on pretty much everything mentioned, Ratchet was such a crap toy I absolutely would not buy Ironhide even when I ran out of other choices for things to get. The Throttlebots were where I jumped off the train and started acne/hormones/girls anyway but I remember seeing one and feeling kinda glad I had grown out of toys if that was what the brand had been reduced to.

But the crowning turd for me, and I'm fully expecting to have to hand my membership card in here, was Powermaster Prime. What the fuck were they doing turning my beloved Optimus into a stumpy-armed statue who's head in Super-mode was about 30 times bigger than his hands? I loathed that piece of shit then and I do now. Take a bow Powermaster Prime......oh you can't can you....you're a fucking statue. With stupid oversized shoulder guns and Decepticon eyes. Ugh.

There's quite a few but for me there were alot of 'ugly' TFs that debuted in the Powermasters and Pretenders era. One of the monster it's - Repugus (?) had a pretty bad mode IMO.

Throttlebots...i forgot about their pile of suck. at least Battlechargers had weapons.

sorry, i think you missed my point. they're only bad as individuals because their bot mode isn't a bot, it's a tank and a jet. if i think of them as triplechangers i don't mind, or that they're drones i don't mind, but otherwise, a tank and a jet aren't bot modes.

I was going to say Broadside but I have to agree about Rodimus Prime. I've never handled one till recently and felt he was truly uninspired and boring. Squeezeplay also has a pretty lousy bot mode.. and alt mode.

It seems like a lot of the movie/Season 3 characters were just awful. Magnus had no articulation below the armpits in combined mode; same goes for Rodimus. I seem to remember Springer not being too horribly bad, but most of them were pretty awful. That was around the time I kind of gave up on TFs and started collecting Joes.
