Prime's legs don't come entirely from the rear of the vehicle. They're formed from the entire frame of the truck...from the front all the way to the rear, with a small amount of bodywork contributing to the armored appearance.

In fact, if you do the measurements of the leader class toy and figure out the scale compared to the actual length of the real life truck, then apply the same scale to the robot form, his stated height is pretty much on the money.

If the framework of the Peterbuilt is what forms the upper legs then that works. The problem with the leader class toy is that the transformation is only halfway accurate. It gets the upperbody right but the lower half of the toy transforms in a completely different manner than what the movie portrays. The sleeper part of the peterbuilt doesn't really contribute at all to the toy design whereas in the movie design it makes up the entirety of the lower legs and some of the panels cover his back.

Considering how friggen weird the transformations are in the movie at times its understandable that the toys can't fully replicate what appears on scren.

Here you go again. I have updated the chart with new robots and their alt. modes. Removed the scale lines, added text, improved image quality and reduced size. In my opinion this is the most reliable and authentic scale of Transformers movie characters. Feel free to comment.

Yes, I would say Jetfire is comfortably taller than Blackout/Grindor.

I think that pic probably sums up every excuse Bay has for pretty much just using cars and trucks for new TF characters since DOTM... lol

This one is one of the best but it's still not perfect as far as scale goes.

Does anyone have the DOTM heights?
These are my guesses for the new characters:

    Shockwave-34ft
    Crankcase-16ft
    Crowbar-17ft
    Hatchet-12ft (About 16ft Length)
    Soundwave-13ft
    Megatron-34ft
    Laserbeak-6ft Length (8ft Wingspan)
    Igor-1ft
Driller-800ft (I have no idea on that one)
    Sentinel Prime-32ft
    Mirage/Dino-16ft
    Wheeljack/Que-14ft
    Topspin-17ft
    Roadbuster-16ft
    Leadfoot-12ft
    Brains-1ft

Also, Ironhide looks a bit shorter and stockier in this one, I'd say he's closer to Ratchet's height than in TF1, maybe even a foot or so below.

Any guesses for the TF4 bots? I think Optimus will be a little taller than before, and judging by the images we've seen, Grimlock will be about 65ft tall in bot mode.
