Who were those two kids in the side story of this month's issue of Batman? They mentioned their names at the end so is that suppose to ring a bell?

Harper Row and her brother Cullen. Harper first showed up in Batman #7, and the siblings were revisited in #12 and #18. Snyder seems to be setting them up for some larger role in the book's future.

Yeah, it looks like Johns is doing with the Justice League books what he did with Green Lantern. Looking forward to seeing how fast this hits the law of diminishing returns.

Say what you want about Johns, he brought GL back into being a reputable series again after the entire series went to the garbage in the 80s and became a joke to the point that they had to kill off everyone just to redeem them.

To be fair, GL didn't become garbage and need to all be killed off until the '90s. GL was great in the '80s, thank you very much.

But otherwise, yeah, I agree. GL is easily now the 4th biggest franchise DC has, after Batman, Superman, and Justice League... after years of only semi-relevance. And all of the current success can be attributed to Johns.

GL is most definitely third for quite a while. It wasn't until the NU52 that DC really became investing into the JL franchise again.

BUt yeah, GL in the Mid-to-late 80s was damn good.

It was the Gerard Jones authored, grey-haired Hal of the 90s that made me a fan of the character.

Hal's GL series in the 90s was good for about 2 years. It was only after Hal was put back on Earth and Mark Bright took over the art that it started to suffer. It had the misfortune of a downturn in sales at the time that killing Superman and breaking Batman had been very successful, so naturally a similar solution was taken for Green Lantern.

In any other decade, the book would probably have just been rested for awhile. Not in the grim 90s.

    Sorry, yeah, I meant 90s.

But then, the 90s was when DC went full ****** with breaking up Donna Troy's marriage, turning Jericho into a villain, "killing" off Superman, Hal, Batman, and Green Arrow just to gain sales etc, and then the joke that was Zero Hour. Don't get me wrong, there were some great things like Kyle Rayner, but since DC's inception, the 90s was their biggest joke until now. Now, they just don't even know what the **** they are doing.

Oh, it worked, yeah, but for the last few years the GL books have just bounced from crossover event to crossover event with no downtime in between. It worked for awhile and kept things exciting, but I don't think anyone would argue that the Third Army or First Lantern events were anywhere near as good as Blackest Night or the Sinestro Corps. You can only operate in overdrive for so long before you burn out.

To be honest, outside of the first N52 issues, I haven't had the chance to actually read anything GL since Blackest Night. In fact, I have yet to even buy the hardcovers to everything after.

I wouldn't be suprised though if Johns had to overextend the storylines due to the New 52 reboot, but yeah agreed, the stuff after the New 52 in particular just seemed to drag on and on and on. I wonder what the stories might have been, because the New 52 really removed a lot of the stuff that was being laid out on in other books like Brightest Day.

The New 52 wiped out a lot of ongoing plots I was enjoying.

Blackest Night was the last time I really enjoyed reading comics. It brought me back in from a 10 year hiatus. Back in the late 90's early 00's all I really read was Thor. Now, nothing. the Secret Six was decent, but the New 52 doesn't interest me in the slightest.
