Did this episode remind anyone else of Ultraman?

I thought the season finale was pretty damn cool. Sure granted some of people I've already watched it before it aired, but its cool. Anyways I can't wait for more, sure I might not say anything about it because well some people will think exactly how I'm reacting to it. And that's scary, but in a good way.

It's probably referring to North American television in general.

I don't believe so. In the article, he talks like as if this is some brand new thing that's never happened before.

For the writer it probably is. Probably started watching Avatar with his kids and was surprised by the complexities. Probably hasn't seen any shows outside the US. And doesn't watch late nite Anime.

I hope that Korra and Avatar have made a new genre. I can't wait for the day that the United States starts to take animation seriously instead of just as children's entertainment. I hope How To Train Your Dragon 2 shows this as well next year.

Man I hope so. I also hope this leads to more animation of this type. Cannot stand CG animated shows. TF: Prime and Clone Wars are my exceptions because of the franchises but traditional animation is just more beautiful and Korra takes it to another level in animation and subject matter.

Just plant some catnip on the robits. That'll do them in.

No, Gargoyles beat Avatar to the punch by about 15 years and as good as Avatar was, Gargoyles knocked it out of the park. And we can argue the same thing about BTAS. I'm glad both of those we're mentioned in the article but it kind of defeated the entire point behind said article. It should've been called "Has the Legend of Korra Revived A Long Lost Television Genre?"

Add, "For American Television" to the end there and you're good.

Finally got a chance to watch the last two eps... and well...it was both sad and beautiful.
Sad, I didn't want the Avatar 'connection' to be lost..forever? Hopefully not. (I'd hate for there not to be any more 'visits' from previous Avatars--esp. Aang, but maybe that's what the writer's want).... And I found the animation for these eps outstanding! :thumb

I saw the post about the next chapter "Changes"...I guess that would have to be true.
...and we have soooooo long to wait. Aww.

Just finished it, and I must say I enjoyed this season a lot more than I did the first. Now I'm very curious as to how the relationship between Korra and Mako goes on and about in the next chapters. Oh and darn these cliffhangers!!

I certainly hope we still see references/flashbacks to Aang and the other Avatar's here and there. I understand of course that we have to move forward, but even the cameo's of Aang, Roku, Kyoshi, and Kuruk in Beginnings were pretty awesome.

Or really, quick references to the previous show in general. The Lion Turtles, the Dancing Dragon form, the Cabbage Man ("NOT MY CABBAGE CORP!!!"), the Fire Sages, Iroh, Wan Shi Tong, and Zhao. All are used sparingly and when they do come back they're great little one-second wonders. Certainly hope the loss of the previous Avatar Cycle doesn't mean we can't ever see the past Avatars again.
