I was hoping for either Star Saber or Dai Atlas, so I'm supremely happy with this =) I know it'll probably be a while though before we see any art or even a figure, but the wait will be worth it =) Soon as this goes up for pre-order I am jumping on this! Now we need a Deathsaurus in the works..

I can totally get behind that. But i think if there is a overlord it'll be more from the animes than the comic.

Cartoon Overlord is very similar to comic though, so I'd be pretty happy with one. Could work both ways.

Thats the angle I'm hoping they go. The comics were cool and all, but I want the character that whipped on Ginari in the desert LOL!

I've been into TFs since I was 2 back in 1985. When I first got the a computer and internet connection at home, the first thing I did was search for Transformers. Stumbling onto pictures of Star Sabre and other Japanese only figures had me freaking salivating over them, with Star Sabre and Victory Leo being the tops. I picked up one each of the two, MIB , over the course of two Botcons. I regrettably sold them when I got engaged. Skip ahead a few years, I get ahold of the Victory Sabre giftset MIB at Botcon. Oh man! The absolute gorgeousness of that set... And then I got my wife pregnant and couldn't justify having a toy on the shelf worth $800 and so it was sold. Now, we're in the process of buying a house and pretty much every TF is out the door or headed out the door. Not because I'm over TFs, but because I'm trying to kick this expensive habit that would take up tons of room.

That said, if Takara does this figure as right as I expect them to, he is bought. A MP Victory Sabre standing on my shelf would be perfect if I were to have only one TF. I no longer really like the Japanese G1 TF shows (excessively silly anime humor is no longer my cup of tea, and the requisite filler episodes and plot of the week episodes are more drawn out than even the US G1 stuff). But Star Sabre's design and character are still amazing and my single favorite TF.

Takara, please feel free to take your time releasing it. Give me time to finish house buying/moving.

You're dreaming if you think this figure is going to be B-grade. Much praise for the current designer, he makes a very smooth figure. But he is hardly the only talented designer at TakaraTomy.

Being a well-hyped, fan choice character I would not be surprised if he ends up as the greatest TransFormer to date.

If they aspire to follow up with Victory Leo at some point that will be a real pinnacle hard to top.

With how big and complex this figure is you really think TT is going to give it away for $100? It will be upwards of $200 and I think most people know this and don't have a problem with it.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I'm sure there are plenty of ugly things you like (Ugly for others) and no one is bashing your taste.

Beautiful! Do you have a pic of just Saber without him combined with the V-Star?

Can't believe I made it this far without somebody posting the Prowl-desk-flip-fan-rage gif.

Really pleased all those chaps who like Star Saber / Victory are getting an MP.

(Whatever won would have been out of my price range. Next year, Scrounge please.)

    EDIT: Ah, go on then...

Yes! YES! Star Saber is awesome! I'd be happier if there were a snowball's chance in hell of this being released by Hasbro, but it's still cool.

Calling him "Star Saber" is such an English mangling of the original, beautiful Japanese name.
I hope they get it right this time and spell it correctly on the box: "Mai-ree Su".

You mean like how Optimus Prime was written as "Mai-ree Su ULTIMATE EDITION!"

Too bad there weren't more early characters to choose from. Imagine a MP Trypticon!
Star Saber is an easy pass for me.

Yes imagine all the fanboy bitching that it would produce because it wouldn't be the size of a couch because people don't realize that Takara makes toys not furniture.

Haha, yes well Titan Metroplex is to say the least designed to interact with Legends Class figures. Incidentally there's only room for something that big on my main display area which is the Henkei/Generations etc collection, mostly Deluxes and Voyagers. Anyway even within those sizes, scale is debatable, let alone the push and pull to make Legends figures (as with Optimus Prime and Bumblebee).

Given that, let me justifiably estimate that a Metroplex scaled to the Voyagers and Deluxes could easily be three times the size: six feet. Then, depending on which character one uses as a case study for re-scaling from Classics to Masterpiece (where a Minibot may indeed shrink and Optimus Prime grows significantly), MP Metroplex or Trypticon might be 1.5 to two times as big again. After half-bankrupting myself on shipping charges, a 12 foot tall MP wouldn't fit in my car for the ride from the post office - never mind the other dimensions! :D
