Sequel != Season. You may argue that's only semantics but that's still a reality.

Really? Because if you do some research over the Web, it looks like most places say Victory is a cartoon series, not just a season. So, sorry but to me, it sounds like it's you guys who want to ignore some pretty clear differences for the sake of considering it as just one big cartoon.

 

Never seen the Japanese G1 cartoons, but I'd absolutely LOVE an MP Star Saber, he'll be an awesome looking MP.

 

By your logic it IS a sequel because Subtitle = sequel.

And by your logic season 3 of the "original" cartoon is also a sequel because in Japan season 1 & 2 were called Fight! Super Robot Life Form Transformers while season 3 was called Fight! Super Robot Life Form Transformers: 2010

See? Subtitle! And that naming tradition continued all the way up until Victory. If the US was importing those shows they would probably be called season 4 or season 5 etc.

Because it IS one big cartoon IN JAPAN! Why is this concept so fucking hard to understand?! It's not quantum mechanics!

They were renamed. Victory isn't a season from the original cartoon that was renamed, Victory has been created as Victory after they ended the original cartoon.

Like Robotech is only one cartoon IN USA that doesn't make Moespeada a season from Macross.

Again bullshit. Both Headmaster and the rest of the Japanese Transformers were made with intentions of being NEW SEASONS OF THE CARTOON FEATURING THE NEW TOYS. Just like how season 3 and season 4 were in the US. THEY ONLY HAD A DIFFERENT NAMING CONVENTION BECAUSE IT'S JAPAN.

Robotech took three shows that were developed and done completely unrelated to each other and were never even considered being the same series and showed them into one. It's a completely different thing.

I'm sorry your head canon doesn't fit with the real world dude but Victory is as much original G1 cartoon as the MTMTE three parter.

As an aside, I don't know about Japan, but calling something a "series" doesn't mean it's a different show. In the UK what we in the US call "seasons" are what they call "series".

Also, Transformers Prime Season Three had a different name than Seasons One and Two but I doubt anyone would argue they're different shows…

 

Yeah Yeah, I got it, Japan is always right no matter what and everything is japanese. From now on, I'll say "the characters from The Transformers cartoon episodes that aired in the USA from 84 to 87 including the movie." Thanks and have a nice day.
