I've had a look at Maplins and they have kits but I'm not sure they could be worked into the barrel. Look forward to seeing how it looks anyways
I think I'll have to drill out the cannon housing for the battery and have the light switch coming out of the back. Hopefully some progress on that soon
I've replaced the shins with the G1 equivalents. I'm test fitting them as I still need to work on their shape and taper them in towards the feet. It marks a milestone though as these are the final G1 parts I'll be using on him. There's well over 20 G1 galvatron parts used in this build now! Next up I narrow the eyes and replicate the banded armour design of galvy's thighs
I've got to tell you: I'm a Galvatron aficionado. I love his design and think it's probably one of if not the greatest in the whole brand. And it's a crying shame that they haven't Masterpieced him yet. But we've been blessed with great customizers who've made some great renditions of the character, and it's always a pleasure to see what they've come up with. With all due respect to everyone else who've made that effort, I have to say that this is my pick out of all of them...and it's still a work in progress! While I'm not enamored with those thunder thighs of his, I think it's an acceptable design compromise to accomodate those colossal calves. I'm glad to see that you're planning to give their current spartan design some attention. Other than that, the only thing I'd like to change is the paint scheme...I prefer Galvatron II/original toy colors, personally. But I recognize that I'm in the miniscule minority on that! Bravo.
Yeah the thighs are rather large but as you noted they had to be to get the proportions right. The banded armour design should act to disguise this a little though. If I knew how hard the original thighs would be to work with I would've replaced them entirely. I had to get a rotation in without lengthening them too much. I settled on inserting thin rotating pieces cut from a fold out ruler. These sections were drilled and pinned up and down into the thigh without interfering with the big ratchet joints there. A horrible job. As for the paint scheme, I really wanted to go back to matt purple but the metallic is so lustrous and spacey so it's staying for the meantime at least. There is that metallic purple and orange G1 megs prototype which may have had some bearing on galvy's animation scheme. Bearing that in mind metallic purple does have some pedigree I suppose. He also looks quite nice with my amazon Unicron this way. I'm happy you like him so much. Cheers Thanks mate! I had him standing on my coffee table under a light it looked pretty cool so I ran with it. Any excuse for another pic After I took this one I realised a replacment G1-esque head and grey hands would be a simple addition and cool homage to the G1 toy and UK comics of the time.
I haven't done much in a while due to a cut thumb. It wasn't even a customizers injury, I got it from doing the washing up Got the crazy eyes sorted yesterday though. Sorry for the shitty pic. What do you think?
Thank you very much Rest assured, Takara's MP Galvatron will own my effort no doubt. I'm just some dude, they are the Creators. When it's released I may repaint mine, maybe toy/comic grey or even a red 'devil' Galvatron. He passes the kick test BTW
Thanks mate The ankle pivots and the weight of the figure really make him a lot of fun to pose. Bit of an off pose here but this is the highest he can kick. Hiiiiiiya!
Thanks a lot dude! I'm away in Yorkshire at the moment but when I get back I'm going to plow into this project and hopefully have him done by the end of next week. MP-11 is in deep trouble
