Bay added balls to Devastator to make funny scene in RotF. So I think he said he want bigger dinosaur then T-rex. But this is too much.

 

It's grown on me. This leads me to believe that the Dinobots will be semi-sentient at best and character-less animals at worst.

not digging the colour scheme, but to be honest that's what customising is for.
Looks like his tail makes the legs, and those tiny feet make good hands, maybe a similar transformation to G1.

Grimlock... actually looks kinda cool. I might just be getting a toy of him after-all. Makes me wonder how Snarl is going to turn out. Seeing how big Grimlock apparently is, it should be interesting to see how well the inevitable Cyberverse Optimus will be able to ride the Leader class Grimlock.

 

Bay calls the shots. If he doesn't like the direction they're going in, he can direct them to make changes.

A lot of directors are heavily involved in character design, and will find the best artists for the job and communicate clearly what is required. The kind of director that is just a hired hand usually doesn't have their name in front of the film. When it says 'A Michael Bay film', that means he's taking the credit as well as the blame.

 

Well, the battles are a bit lopsided, to be completely frank. I hope the decepticons have something formidable, and maybe they will. There was a rumor some time ago that there will be another "Driller" in this one. Grimlock vs a Driller would look cool.

 

Yes, I completely understand Bay has influence, just like he had heavy influence with the Twins' faces, BUT Bay does not draw out the concepts. If Bay tells them "make it kind of look like this" there are artists that can give him what he wants, without it looking stupid and give it their own creative flair. There might be some artists though, that are not like that. They might take his direction too seriously and make it exactly like Bay says without their own creative take on the design. Ultimately, Bay doesn't sit down with a pen and paper and make concept art. He might sit down with a pen and paper and give direction, but that's it. He's not the artist. And it's scary that people actually think (not you) Directed by Michael Bay means that he is the sole one that, edits, writes, designs characters, builds sets and caters.

 

Makes me wonder how big Grimlock will be in robot mode.

not to be a buzz kill, but that could just be a legends OP that someone posed on a leader grimmy just for a fun visual.

Not only would a t-rex of that implied size be grossly out of scale with an actual dinosaur. it would make interactions between the dinobots and other transformers (not to mention humans) kinda crazy. It looks like that grimlock stands maybe 60 feet at the shoulders, which could imply the robot mode is also about 60 feet tall, if you figure the legs will stay legs (40 feet) and the upper body splits into torso/arms (20 feet). Or if he's like a traditional grimlock where the legs become arms (40 feet) which means if he legs are about the same length and he doesn't have hands hanging by his knees you're looking at an 80 foot Grimlock.

Depending on your favored continuity Grimlock should be bigger than OP, but 3 times taller? Prime would need to stand on a transformers scale step ladder just to shake his hand.

Seriously though, an IP where giant robots wielding energy weapons battle while riding even more gigantic robot dinosaurs that also transform into robots... why is this not a thing already?

So after watching the forest battle again and realizing how small Optimus is next to grindor I realized how big grimlock will really be seriously I think grimlock could be 3/4 of devastators size and obviously bigger than the fallen

And he would not be out of scale. Grimlock is to Optimus as a dinosaur would be to a human.
