Does anyone still think Grimlock transforms into the grey truck?

 

Must be fighting something massive. My fear is op/dinobots will just slaughter all the cons easily....bored of that. Can we have tough enemies please.

I hate to shit on everyone's pic-nic, but this looks absolutely fucking awful.

Number one, of this was an internet meme it would be funny. But this is in the movie? Fuck. This is too far. There's suspension of disbelief and then there's just lala land. This is like the capital of lala land.

On top of that, Grimlock is Kaiju sized. Which basically confirms that he will be nothing more than a giant monster, with no characterization. Why? Because you can't let something that big be sentient. It's not movie convention, and Bay doesn't come off as the ground breaking film maker to make that happen.

And, frankly, the design isn't all that good. Nothing about it says "Grimlock" rather than "generic cool looking dinosaur from a toy line that's been cancelled for five years which you found in a pharmacy five minutes from a birthday party for a boy that goes to your kid's pre-school".

But it's biggest fault lies in the inherent un-Grmlockiness of being ridden. What happened to the first Autobot anti-hero? To the Grimlock who took no shit, to the hardcore no-rules robot dinosaur?

Then again, I guess that wouldn't work in the Movieverse. After all, it's standard Autobot precedure there to kill unarmed combatants, rip enemies in half, cause as much pain as possible and conduct yourself in whatever manner you want because "Hurr Durr, it's a warz!" right? How do you go any farther than Movie Prime than just straight up being a Decepticon?

It's weird, to be dissapointed by Bayformers. I haven't had that in a while. I just... I really thought this would be better.

PS Those front fangs are still the goofiest things ever.

 

After seeing this: Hell no.

 

Power Rangers T-Rex Zord (various sorts) or a Genesis T-Rex Zoid is what that resembles to me - it will live or die by the robot mode and how large of a toy of it they make though I suspect.

 

Now Should Dinobots be ridden by Autobots like they are horses?

It's well agreed that TFTM and Season 3 softened Grimlock too much.

Besides, even softened up Grimlock was NOT happy about it.

 

Yes because a girl who magically makes machines malfunction can fall in love with a red robot who has an alternate mode that no one has seen ever; and a boat robot can save a planet of mermaids with a magical pond that turns him into a merman; and there can be totally a Middle-Eastern country called Carbombya; But a robot warlord riding another one that turns into an extinct creature can't AT ALL happen ever in a franchise about Shapeshifting, Extraterrestrial, Sentient, Talking robots?  

 

How do you know that he's going to be happy about it here? Does he look like he's smiling and rolling over to have his tummy tickled?

 

Optimus Prime wielding a sword and shield while using Grimlock for a battle steed? Very cool.

 

I agree, much of G1 was ridiculous nonsense impossible to take seriously.
